First of all, it protects you from rising postal charges in the future; but more importantly, it injects a huge amount of cash into the USPS, right at a moment when Republicans are claiming the service is struggling.

Of course, the reason the USPS is having any difficulty at all is because of the crazy 2006 Republican law that forces draconian measures on the USPS, the government telling this business how it should be run. The measure forced the USPS to set aside money for the retirement of every postal worker, even those not ever born yet, for the next 75 years, and have it all done by 2016. This has caused the USPS to bleed over $5 billion each year, which would have easily kept it in the black.

Basically, Republicans forced the Post Office into the red by imposing a crippling forced savings program and preventing them from using the money they earn.

FOREVER STAMPS, a great investment in America: A couple of hundred dollars worth of stamps would set someone up for all the postage they might need for years to come, protecting them from postage rate hikes because the stamps purchased now are always good for full postage no matter what the future rate might be, and would foil the Republican plan to break the Post Office.

Democrats call for investigation of postmaster general over mail delays

Congressional Democrats on Friday called for an investigation of newly installed Postmaster General Louis DeJoy over new cost-cutting measures at the agency that postal workers say have delayed mail delivery and ensnared ballots in recent primary elections.

It also asks Whitcomb to review the financial holdings of DeJoy and his wife Aldona Wos. The couple’s holdings include between $30.1 million and $75.3 million in assets in USPS competitors or contractors
