Every viral outbreak has the same pattern. It starts out. Spikes, then decreases. Why? Because eventually it runs out of people to infect. Happens with EVERY single virus.

There are two reasons off the top of my head you are wrong. Sometimes immunity is not conferred well enough to stop the disease, and sometimes it does not spread fast enough to get herd immunity. With so many people having Covid-19, it could easily mutate around immunity like influenza does, and there is a lot of evidence that the immunity that we get again Covid-19 is very limited. This could easily spread in repeated waves like influenza, or spread in a slow churning like viral Meningitis, Epstein–Barr(virus causing mono), or any of the many diseases we have developed vaccines for. None of the diseases that are prevented by vaccines just went away naturally.

There is a third possible flaw in your plan, but it is hopefully unlikely with Covid-19. HIV continues to grow. It has not gone away. It infects new people, and only releases old infected people through death (with maybe a few rare exceptions).

Maybe we will get lucky, and this will naturally go away. It is far from definite that we will get lucky, which is why the USA is quarantined off from the rest of the world. The rest of the world does not want to take the chance we will not get lucky.

Sweden did have a lockdown, that caused as much economic damage as Denmark's lockdown. It was more incomplete so Sweden had 5 times the per capita death rate of Denmark. What saved Sweden from a really bad problem is they have government controlled universal healthcare that was able to setup extreme contact tracing.
