Cocaine is a pharmaceutical drug. Doctors could not do eye surgery without it, which why it is still legal for pharmaceutical use, but heavily regulated. While heroin is no longer a pharmaceutical drug, other variations on opioids still are. Opioids are the only known real painkiller, and even though they are highly dangerous, they are very essential.

Here we actually agree. The jury is also out on how to best use Hydroxychloroquine, if at all. Researchers are frantically trying to find the best regiment to save as many lives as possible.

Why did the ‘formerly respectable’ medical journal The Lancet put out a half-baked study in which they claimed 30% of COVID patients might actually die from taking HCQ—only to be forced to retract it when it was pointed out their methodology sucked?

And is there some point where we should start asking if people are actually dying because of sheer politics?

The reason these are half baked studies is because things are moving quicker than they normal do. It is an emergency. Studies that could be done over years or even decades are being done in weeks, or even days. It is chaos, but everyone is trying their best.

trump and the Alt Right are not helping things with their wild misinformation. They have some sort of meaningless political point to make, and are interfering with the researchers trying to make things better.

The whole world is faking studies just to discredit trump? Doesn't it sound more reasonable that trump has no education, and is demanding to be treated like an expert. That is causing him to make a fool of himself.

And is there some point where we should start asking if people are actually dying because of sheer politics?

Oh, we both agree that people are dying because of sheer politics. Where we disagree is who is doing the politics, and who is doing the science. I believe the scientists are doing the science and trump is doing the politics. You believe the roles are reversed.

trump never took a course in calculus, or statistics. If he had, it would be just another 10 years of more education, and he could start to understand the real problems. I have a superficial understanding of the problems, but trump does not even have that. His ideas have no significants.

I am hoping we elect Biden who I believe will leave it to the scientists to do the science, and will work to get the other barriers out of the way. trump could be trying to get funding for the scientists, and trying to coordinate with foreign leaders so international scientists could work together. Instead, he is suggesting treatments with absolutely no education in the field.

I am convinced some kids will contract COVID in school and some will died. It will be all over the media for days and days. It will be used to whip Donald Trump with. What the media won't mention however is the fact that school age kids catch the flu by 10s of 1000s. and some die from it every year. In a more rational climate [one not perverted by TDS] Trump’s lay *opinion* on it would be taken as just that—a lay opinion.

‘Well, Trump seems to think HCQ might be an effective treatment. That’s cool. What else is going on?’

But no, reflexive Because Trump kicked in, next thing you know things like the Ohio pharmacy board started basically telling frontline doctors not prescribe HVQ to COVID patients.

They were forced to rescind it but that still leaves the question of why they felt compelled to butt into the doctor patient relationship—in the middle of pandemic.

HCQ is a very well established drug used for malaria in many parts of the world and also as treatment for rheumatoid and other autoimmune disorders. Potential side effects, well documented. Contraindications, again, well known and well documented.

So, since you agree the jury on the efficacy of HCQ vs COVID is still out and may actually be helpful; I assume you agree frontline doctors are sufficiently competent to recognize contraindications in their own patients—what was the rational basis for the Ohio Pharmacy Board preventing OH doctors from prescribing HCQ for the COVID patients?

I sure as hell cant figure it out.
