Default Biden advised Obama not to kill bin Laden

Intelligence experts believed they had located bin Laden in a Pakistan compound, but they weren’t certain, and the risks of failure were high.
Most officials present urged Obama to go for it, the president turned to Biden: “Joe, what do you think?” he asked, according to an account Biden gave
“Mr. President, my suggestion is don’t go,” Biden said.

In May 2011, Vice President Joe Biden was in the White House Situation Room, joining President Barack Obama and his top national security officials for a crucial meeting. The question on the table: whether to order a dangerous Special Forces raid to take out Osama bin Laden.

Intelligence experts believed they had located bin Laden in a Pakistan compound, but they weren’t certain, and the risks of failure were high. After most officials present urged Obama to go for it, the president turned to Biden: “Joe, what do you think?” he asked, according to an account Biden gave months later.

Good advice. Yet the truth will never be known since Obama refused to document his actual death.

“Mr. President, my suggestion is don’t go,” Biden said.

Obama, of course, ignored his deputy’s advice and dispatched Navy SEAL Team 6 to kill the Al Qaeda leader. It was a historic triumph for America — not to mention a political bonanza for a president facing reelection, perhaps the most consequential decision of Obama’s presidency.

And Joe Biden was on the wrong side of it.

As Clinton likes to remind audiences, she advised Obama to take the gamble. “I respected [Biden’s] concerns about the risk of a raid,” she wrote in her 2014 memoir, “Hard Choices,” “but I came to the conclusion that the intelligence was convincing and that the risks were outweighed by the benefits of success.”

“She can very easily point to the bin Laden operation,” says a former Obama White House official. “The value in it is that it’s so simple and so easy to understand: I was for it, and you were against it.”

A student of foreign policy since the 1970s, Biden prides himself on his judgment about world affairs. That makes him particularly sensitive to criticism that he’s flubbed several big calls on world affairs over the years. Biden has been “wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades,” Obama’s first defense secretary, Robert Gates, declared last year.

Biden is a warmonger for Iraq/Afghanistan , and Libya - but he advised against killing bin Laden

Biden’s claim that he didn’t tell Obama not to launch bin Laden raid
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/polit...in-laden-raid/

Biden, to put it mildly, is not the most disciplined speaker. He sometimes gets himself in trouble with flat declarations and evolving versions of the same story. His advice in 2011 to President Barack Obama on whether to risk an attack on the possible location of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden is a case in point.

Depending on the venue or the vantage point, Biden has emphasized advice he gave in a top-level meeting — essentially “don’t go yet” — or advice he claims he gave privately — essentially “go if you want to go.”

There is possibly a case to be made that various versions make sense when viewed in a continuum, as part of the same story. But the problem is that Biden’s supposed advice that Obama should launch a raid was made in private, while other high-level participants recall Biden’s words of caution

If you have the documentation and DNA then post it. No journalist in the world has seen it.

US President Donald Trump has said that he ordered a precision strike to "terminate" top Iranian commander
"We took action last night to stop a war. We did not take action to start a war," Trump said in a statement from his Mar-a-Lago resort on Friday, a day after a US drone strike on a Baghdad airport killed Qasem Soleimani.
Later, while at a Miami church for an Evangelicals for Trump event, the President said: "He was planning a very major attack and we got him."
Iran, in a letter to the United Nations, called the attack state terrorism and an unlawful criminal act.
