Default Trump doubles down on defense of hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19

This clown is pushing this snake oil medicine, as a cure for the corona virus again?!!

As the U.S. neared 150,000 deaths from the novel coronavirus, President Donald Trump doubled down on his defense of an unproven drug to treat COVID-19 after announcing he would invoke the Defense Production Act to spur generic drug manufacturing in response to the pandemic.

The federal government's $765 million deal with Kodak, now a pharmaceutical company, to produce ingredients for generic drugs, will enable the company to produce a quarter of all active ingredients for drugs in the U.S. in four to five years, according to administration officials.

Trump went on to rattle off a list of efforts his administration has taken to curb the coronavirus, offering a rosy picture of the crisis and of what is to come.

Would you please wrap quotes around what exactly he said about hydroxychloroquine being the "cure"? Thanks.

When you are desparate-as tRump is- and run out of fresh bullshit, you simply recycle the old bullshit.
Please leave your Trump 2024 signs in your yard. That way, my dog will know where to take a dump.

Trump simply can never admit he is wrong. If he stopped defending Hydroxy months ago, it would have gone away as an issue. He cannot do that,. He keeps returning to it because of his sad character flaw of having to be right, no matter what he says. He has a voodoo priestess on his medical team providing expert witness to the efficacy of Hydroxy. Who is not convinced?

DETROIT – Treatment with hydroxychloroquine cut the death rate significantly in sick patients hospitalized with COVID-19 – and without heart-related side-effects, according to a new study published by Henry Ford Health System.

In a large-scale retrospective analysis of 2,541 patients hospitalized between March 10 and May 2, 2020 across the system’s six hospitals, the study found 13% of those treated with hydroxychloroquine alone died compared to 26.4% not treated with hydroxychloroquine. None of the patients had documented serious heart abnormalities; however, patients were monitored for a heart condition routinely pointed to as a reason to avoid the drug as a treatment for COVID-19.

The study was published today in the International Journal of Infectious Diseases, the peer-reviewed, open-access online publication of the International Society of Infectious Diseases (ISID.org).

Patients treated with hydroxychloroquine at Henry Ford met specific protocol criteria as outlined by the hospital system’s Division of Infectious Diseases. The vast majority received the drug soon after admission; 82% within 24 hours and 91% within 48 hours of admission. All patients in the study were 18 or over with a median age of 64 years; 51% were men and 56% African American.

And the study has been questioned because across the globe, study after study, test after test, it proves not only that it does not work, but causes serious and dangerous side effects.
