    Default What is privilege?

Privilege is paying 49% of the taxes, but getting 63% of the spending...

Propping up the boonies, Atlanta’s thankless burden
Back in 2009, researchers from Georgia State University found that the 10-county metro Atlanta region had 43 percent of the state's population and generated 53 percent of the state's taxable income. That area contributed 51 percent of state revenue but got back just 37 percent of state expenditures. In essence, each metro Atlantan cut a check for $500 each year for every resident elsewhere.

"On his website, Sanders says, “By lifting this cap so that everyone who makes over $250,000 a year pays the same percentage of their income into Social Security as the middle class and working families, [we] would not only extend the solvency of Social Security for the next 50 years, but also bring in enough revenue to expand benefits by an average of $65 a month; increase cost-of-living-adjustments, and lift more seniors out of poverty by increasing the minimum benefits paid to low-income seniors.”

Yes. Requiring those that make OVER $118,500 to pay into Social Security on their Earnings seems like a smart move.

"Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders, (D-Vt.) is in favor of putting Social Security on a more solid financial footing by raising the cap on earnings that are taxed. Currently, earnings up to $118,500 are taxed for this purpose."

Bernie's medicare for all plan would cost anywhere from 30-50 Trillion. Even if we hiked taxes to 100% it wouldn't pay for it.

Makes you wonder how all the other Industrialized Nations can afford a National Health Care Plan, doesn't it.

Capping SS taxable income never made sense.

The cap should be removed entirely, and everyone pays a flat 6.2% of their income for SS, with employer paying the other 6.2%.

So then the federal agents grabbing people into vans would be kidnapping, then?

Cuz they're not being arrested, they're not being booked, they're not being charged, they're not being arraigned, and they're not given an attorney.

    So they're being kidnapped.

We're already spending that much on health care right now, so all you're doing is saying how much health care costs, not how much M4A would cost.

And yes, we can pay for it very easily with modest tax increases on mostly the wealthy.

Jacky, I lived in a country for three years that had a national health plan... Spanish National Health System (SNS), also known as seguridad social.

You will have to take my word for it but it sucked (a technical term for...you would not like it).

    Stop being a sophist.

Federal agents are kidnapping people on the street, threatening witnesses, and you voted for that.

No, because they don't use Bernie's methods. They hall have private and public options.

    Wait!
Spain could afford a National Health Care Plan, and the US can't? (This is mind-boggling)
