I've been reading a lot of medical journal articles about this. It's terrifying. When this virus has finally blown itself out, we are going to see hundreds of thousands of people with lifelong health issues and/or disabilities who survived their infections.

This thing is really tricky. Australia, Japan, and China who looked like it was over are all of a sudden having new outbreaks. Granted they are small but it shows how hard it is to kill this damn thing.

It's really disheartening, isn't it? I think ppl are getting jaded and also complacent. The steady-state death rate looks encouraging on its face. But it doesn't tell the whole story, which the OP brought up.

Hope you guys continue to stay safe!

To cheer us up, we heard yesterday about a Scottish pilot who went to work in Vietnam, and came down with the lurgy within a month. He was very bad, and at one time given only a one in ten chance. The Vietnamese, at the time, had had no deaths and were determined to have none, so they went all out to save him, threw in all their best surgeons, did everything possible. He was there for a hundred days, on a ventilator and unconscious for a lot of them, and apparently they were broadcasting about it, and the case was being followed by vast numbers, so when he finally got out in the early morning, great crowds were there cheering. I find it heart-warming, and if it is propaganda, why have none of us heard anything about it? He's home now, but reckons to go back to work when he can.

A friend of the family, 28, came down with COVID. A month in the hospital. Now suffers extreme fatigue and has to be monitored for potential strokes and seizures.

Long term heart, lung, kidney and liver damage have also been reported.

That's bad, but s/he may improve. Any prolonged stay in hospital leaves major problems: I was in six weeks once, and it took me a long time to get over it.

Let's hope that all these long-term sick people get universal health care- preferably free at the point of use.

Then again- there are homeless vets. dying on the streets while the US GIVES BILLIONS of dollars to Izrael annually and spends TRILLIONS on crushing the health of other countries on Izrael's behalf.
If we want to look after our sick people we need to stop creating nations of sick people elsewhere for ' Izrael's security '.

And to think Trump told us that 99% of cases are benign, which demonstrates that he doesn't care about the suffering of his countryman, and only cares about getting re-elected; at any cost.

Covid-19 will kill us all if we don't embrace Social Justice and the Black Lives Matter movement.

It shouldn't bother you, Comrade maggot. You claimed there was no pandemic at all.
