This economy will NEVER rebound until the virus is under control. And where are we after these 4-5 months? On the road to recovery as so many European and Asian countries are, No. The rate of infections are higher now that they were back in March. We are moving backward, not forward.

The cutoff date for this survey was June 18th, therefore it reflects consumer confidence in the first half of June, when the economy was re-opening, and before the recent spikes in cases caused numerous states to roll back their re-opening plan. Similar to the unemployment survey, which also reflects the first half of the month, this is unsurprising. Expect it to fall in July, and if the virus isn't under control, expect it to fall even further as the unemployment rate rises again. The market was taking off at this same time. Now, much less so. We are all the way back to where we were in March, except apparently the strategy now is just to let people die so Trump can claim a good economy. He will stop at nothing. Everyone one of his supporters is complicit.
