Truth hurts, doesn't it? We've been treated to YEARS of comments from so-called Christians about Islam and how terrible it is. Many Americans claim that Muslims should police themselves and make sure to always come out against the radical jihadist terrorists who make up a tiny minority of their number. Yet how strangely silent these same American Christians are when one of *their* ilk spouts hate speech. Franklin Graham, Robertson, Falwell, et al have *all* engaged in spreading lies and hatred.

I have no idea what the skirmish is about with Dean, but his tweet is not helpful as it feeds into the ceaseless Christian culture
war persecution narrative. We need our leaders to not add flames and not to troll like Trump. Rigid Chrisitan right wing dogma
is pretty damn hateful, I, as a private citizen, agree.

Salafi jihadi are not a "tiny minority" ( look at the size of just ISIS) - and their terrorist reaches are worldwide

True, your hate IS getting stronger.

Pebble probably whines because the line at the local church she gets her free food at is too long...
Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it.

Sure we have plenty of bad egg Christians here in America but many unpoliticized Christians can be extremely supportive and giving. It's politicized Christianity that sours the batch.

Conservatives attack Islam all the time on this board, and there have been toxic rightwing anti-semites here as well.

Curiously, your new found enthusiasm for defending religion never previously extended to defending Muslims or coming down on rightwing anti-semites.

In stark contrast to you, I have a witten record of sticking up for genuine Christians, Muslims, and Jews.

The Calvinist strain of Protestantism explicitly maintains that one is saved by grace alone. Good works and deeds play no role in salvation. That is why bible thumping Calvinists are obsessed with their own personal salvation and the prosperity gospel, and not typically prone to dedicating their lives to serving community or social causes.

At least the Catholics have a tradition of living the social gospel and their theology places great weight on improving the human condition in this earthly realm.

I will say dean's words are poorly chosen and unfairly caricature the planet's two billion Christians
I think they were directed at the type of Christianity those mentioned serve up these days and I absolutely agree with Dean. The tweets from both men since Trump has been I office does not reflect true Christian values. There are very few people who will stand up to these faux Christian leaders and renounce their evil rhetoric. It reflects badly on all Christians in my opinion, that they let these men represent their religion.

    what exact hate speech?
you have a tendency to bloviate -so I can't answer until I see what you refer to

But christian "hate speech" is not a significant sect, unlike the Salafist Movement in Islam
that is a large part of Sunni Islam

By "progressive attacks on religion" do you mean not giving people privilege because of their religion? Do you mean building a secular society where we all have the same rights?
