Dean's tweet referred to Falwell, Franklin Graham, et al. Their brand of Calvinist Reformed Protestantism has very little to do with charity and the principles of the social gospel. The Calvinist strain of Protestantism explicitly maintains that one is saved by grace alone. Good works and deeds play no role in salvation. That is why bible thumping Calvinists are obsessed with their own personal salvation and the prosperity gospel, and not typically prone to dedicating their lives to serving community or social causes.

At least the Catholics have a tradition of living the social gospel and their theology places great weight on improving the human condition in this earthly realm.

I think they were directed at the type of Christianity those mentioned serve up these days and I absolutely agree with Dean. The tweets from both men since Trump has been I office does not reflect true Christian values. There are very few people who will stand up to these faux Christian leaders and renounce their evil rhetoric. It reflects badly on all Christians in my opinion, that they let these men represent their religion.
