Rock n roll is a perfect song.
When the Levee Breaks is a perfect heavy metal song.

There were so much competition in the 60's, it only ever reached number 20 on the charts. And surprisingly and sadly, it was the only hit Jimi Hendrix ever had on the top 40. Yes, as crazy as reality is sometimes, Jimi Hendrix is a One-Hit-Wonder!

But this was my choice, if I have to choose only one!

This one is also in my top ten.

Yes, so much that Dylan returned the favor of Hendrix doing his song.

When Bob Dylan played the song in any of his concerts following Jimi's release, he played Jimi's version of the song.

He explained to Rolling Stone magazine- He plays Hendrix's version live as a tribute to Hendrix for making it a better song!

I’m being a thread Nazi, and for a reason, this isn’t a top ten or top five list. Stand up and shout it out. What do you think is the best Rock song ever. There can be only one!

Brilliant choice. As that song would have been just as popular a piece, had it been performed as a Classical Instrumental in the era of Louie the 14th- And as timeless as it is, will still be enjoyed in the 22nd century and beyond for all future generations to come.

Notice I said it has to be "up there," but not the "greatest."

The so called '"experts" (music critics) say Stairway To Heaven is the greatest R&R song ever, but we all have our favorites and Pink Floyd's Time is mine.
There have been many, many good R&R songs over the years, but to say just one of them is "the greatest" is controversial at best.
Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it.

True dat but I’m interested in hearing why someone thinks the song they chose is the greatest ever.
