What do you think the supreme court will do them? They are releasing their decision today. Three options I can think of;
1) Unlikely but possible, they will protect Trump from having to release his taxes.
2) More likely, they will require that Trump release his taxes to at least one if not all of the groups looking for them.
3) It’s possible they will require Trump to release his taxes, but not until after November.

For me, #3 is even less likely than #1.
I think they will withhold the returns from Congress at this time...but require the release requested by the NYSD.
We shall see.
I suspect Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch and Kavanaugh will all vote to withhold the returns from both parties, but that Roberts will vote to release the returns requested by the NYSD. (Gorsuch may surprise me and vote the other way on the NYSD case.)
If Trump loses the case brought by the Congress...I expect him to defy the court.
ON HIS WORST DAY, JOE BIDEN IS A BETTER PRESIDENT THAN TRUMP WAS ON HIS BEST DAY!

Privacy act. Trump nor anyone else is compelled to release them to the public.
Here's the bottom line: This is all political. If the IRS or the FBI want to see Trump's taxes, the IRS has already done so. The FBI needs a warrant, but that's not too big a deal given national security. The problem for the Democrats is that all of that information is covered by privacy laws and cannot be publicly released without Trump's permission just like Hillary's medical records. The only reason to compel release of medical and tax records is to throw dirt on the person. It's not about law, it's not about national security since those are already covered.

Give your private records to Congress and, if some members are politically opposed to you, see how long they stay confidential.
What does anyone really expect from the release of these records? Dirt on Trump. That's it. It'll be what most people already suspect; Trump has a lot of money tied up in Russia. All legal. Trump only gives to his own "charity" or nothing at all. Trump isn''t as rich as he claims or claimed.
In fact, it appears Trump was worth about $3.1B and he fucked himself by bungling the COVID crisis from the beginning. Now he's worth $2.1B and desperate to get that money back by reopening the nation. It doesn't matter to him if an extra 100,000 or 200,000 die. In fact, if given a choice of being reelected and having $2.1B in the bank or being voted out of office and having $3.1B in the bank, I'm certain he'd go for the money. Trump is all about the money.

Donald Trump lost an estimated $1bn of his paper fortune in the past month as the coronavirus lockdown forced the closure of offices, shopping centres, hotels and golf courses he owns.
The US president’s fortune has fallen from an estimated $3.1bn (£2.5bn) on 1 March to $2.1bn on 18 March (at the height of stock market panic caused by the coronavirus pandemic) according to Forbes magazine’s annual billionaires list.

Do you think that the IRS and the FBI don't know what's in those records? If Trump was illegal, why hasn't he or his corporation been indicted long before 2016?
You are free to believe Trump is just a po' black chil' from Alabama. I can only go by the facts provided from reputable sources.
BTW, did you push this hard for Hillary's medical records?

Entitled by whom? The Constitution? Because they're Democrats and he's on the Republican ticket?
Just so we're clear; I fully support all candidates to national office being compelled to release their tax and medical records to a classified bipartisan commission with restrictions so tight that if anyone released private information, they'd go to jail, not just be fined. As we found out with Hillary and every other politician, those rules don't exist.
This is just more partisan political pussyfooting trying to justify digging up dirt on opponents. IF (or when) Biden is elected, how many RWers and LWers on this forum will strain their backs flip-flopping on the issue?
