The TPP was an Asian trade deal that dealt China out. It was a blow to China. The Repubs hated it because it was Obamas. Since then, China has oozed to the openings withdrawing left. But at least Obama's name was gone.
China has no global supremacy. We are by far the biggest economy in spite of the Trump crash. What China is, was made by American manufacturers.

China likes to take advantages of our form of governments weakness in that it’s easy to sow dissent and faction within a liberal democracy.
China though has to be careful in playing that game with the US cause in a quid pro quo situation they will lose as their weaknesses are far greater and far more obvious than ours. Like having nearly 500 million people still living in abject poverty.
Having said that Whinny the Poo has had an easy time the last three years running circles around Trump who has proven to be a complete and utter neophyte on foreign relations which is a Presidents most important job. His get tough on China talk has been just that, talk. His only real actions has been his trade tariffs which ended up, as expected, hurting us more than China.

incorrect.
Phase One trade agreement was negotiated -then bang came Corona.
It's still in effect but with US/Chinese relations in the toilet, isnt going to survive Trump if he loses.
Beijing Biden will drop negotiations with China in favor of the US entering China trade back in the WTO.
Biden has not the savvy nor the disposition to challenge Beijing on it's own grounds -
he'd not put Lighthizer back to work on a tough negotiations
Pointless to argue about it now, we're all under Chinese control. Hell, pretty soon they'll be picking both presidential candidates instead of just one.

Jack; That's true. They are an 'Ethno-State' and they are 'Authoritarian'. Things like 'Free Expression' and 'Individual Liberty' are frowned upon (see Hong Kong for example).

Jack: I disagree. China is on the Ascendancy of Power. China has a 'Central Planning' culture in Government and is using it to full advantage. They are using 'Mercantilism', a form of Commerce that supports 'Nationalism' and the 'State'. It's a perfect example of their 'China First' policy. Their Central Planning DOESN'T include people that mutter "But, but ... that's Communism" or "But, but ... that's Capitalism". They are focused on a 'China First' policy that is nimble enough to do whatever is in the best interests of China.
At this point in time, I doubt the US could ever build a 'Panama Canal' or a 'Hoover Dam'. People like to say "America First", but they don't understand what that may entail. Do people here even understand the term 'National Champions', a term used in countries around the world.
--->"National champions
National champions are corporations which are technically private businesses but due to governmental policy are ceded a dominant position in a national economy. In this system, these large organizations are expected not only to seek profit but also to "advance the interests of the nation"; the government sets policies which favor these organizations.Wikipedia"<---
