Your thread title. We had a great little problem after Bush destroyed the Mid East. We had surplus military equipment. So we brought it home, and deployed it in black neighborhoods across the nation. And we hired the roided out veterans to boot.

Now we have martial law across the nation, and it's time to scale it way back.

First we don't have martial law across the nation. 2nd if we did, it has nothing to do with police gear, and more to do with rioters.

Govt "overreach" is justified in some cases. It really is. You had bombers going around a city blowing up people indiscriminately. And shooting and killing what they thought were LEO. Obviously a great danger to society.

Our Dallas Police Department will not be answering anymore 911 calls that have to do with shoplifting under $25, or calls concerning mentally ill domestic violence calls unless someone is threatening a life with a dangerous weapon.

Mentally ill domestic violence calls will be handled by another response team of social workers trained to handle those kinds of incidents who will have the full authority to apprehend people by discretion and have them brought in and have evaluated by professionals in the mental health profession.

ANd when they made these announcements just last week, they said that they were following other police departments across the country that were changing their own policies as well.

So city budgets are being adjusted accordingly to accommodate the new services.

This is what Biden is talking about.

They were trying ( and succeeded) in keeping the citizens off the street for 1) Safety 2) To not hamper search operations to find them.
They were successful.

Understood. Declaring martial law and ordering everyone to stay inside and wear masks is effective. I got it. I just don't agree with the mandatory bullshit or militarizing the police to force it down the throats of citizens. Good leadership and a stronger American soul in each citizen would have been just as effective: imagine every Bostonian outside asking "Who the fuck are you?" to strangers instead of cowering inside praying "Dear God, I hope they catch them".

Biden now says that he is for changing tactics of policing, tactics that he has supported for decades (because as usual he was wrong)...and defunding the police.....as he claims that he is not for defunding the police.....that is to say he is lying.
