Right, but so is everyone else enrolled in your plan.

So it's already basically socialist; you're pooling your premiums in with millions of other people, and then your medical claims are being reimbursed from that pool.

So you could very well end up getting more health care than what you paid in premiums. It's not an equal distribution of reimbursements. And you are limited in your choice of providers by your insurance company.

So no, you don't "pay for your own health care" if you are enrolled in an insurance plan.

    NO.

The premiums aren't for health care, they're for access.

Did you get to choose which doctors your insurance company contracts with?

    No on both counts.

No, health care is paid by reimbursements from your insurance company.

You are paying premiums to an insurance company for access to health care that then gets reimbursed by the insurance company after you get treated.

You aren't paying for the health care. Your insurance company is doing that. You're paying for limited access to health care.

You don't get to pick the doctors your insurance plan contracts with. They make that decision themselves.

You also don't get to pick which insurance plans your boss offers. They also make that decision themselves.

The choice you make comes after those other choices have been made. So how is that freedom? It's "freedom to choose" after two choices have already been made?

"You're free to choose among these options we've already chosen for you." <- Your insurance company and boss

    No, it's not.

Access and health care are not the same.

And it's also a false choice because your insurance company has already chosen what doctors they work with, and your boss has already chosen which insurance companies you can choose from.

So that's two health care choices made for you, before you've had the chance to make your own.
