First: does anyone dispute that this is now the admin's stance? To me, it's obvious. If Trump could, I think he'd even get rid of what testing we have, just so we could more easily ignore the cases that are out there.
I haven't heard the admin articulate the reasoning for this strategy, but some surrogates have tried: we have to just let the virus run its course, and build "herd immunity."
Since we don't know how long immunity from having the virus lasts, and in fact could be a short period of time: is that a good national strategy? Other countries (and some notable U.S. states) have been able to re-open responsibly - containing the virus, while getting their economies moving again. Why wouldn't we emulate that?

You Idiot!
Republicans have a Plan.
(try to keep up, libtard)
According to Trump, preserving statues of Confederate generals is more important than dealing with covid-19.
The “reason for the strategy” is to keep the virus off the front page, the media agenda, it is a deflection, the virus doesn’t fit into the melodrama that Trump employs as his schtick, he can’t sell it as the bad guy and himself the good guy, he can’t personally attack the virus, give it a funny nickname, nor ridicule it at his gym rallies.
Therefore he ignores it, or flat out lies about it, focusing instead these days on “rioting, looting, anarchists,” and the right wing media pretty much follows the script. It ain’t working, which is probably the biggest reason he is falling in the polls

Doctors have pointed out that those who get Corona and recover, even easily , often have what appears to be permanent lung damage. The hospitals are taking in people much younger and they seem to recover better. But it is not without cost. We do not know how the damage will manifest in later years. We do not even know if getting it provides immunity. Those with some permanent damage are about 25 percent. That is millions of people

Remember ... ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES ... So STFU Bitch
No? Is it a trick question?
Seriously, what a dumb strategy. DeSantis of course embraced it. Nothing to see here folks.

Yep. It's very obviously a terrible strategy.
I think it's based on things that stem directly from Trump's narcissism: an unwillingness to admit he was wrong about certain precautions & the spread, the idea that acknowledging any sort of crisis or or spike will make him "look bad," and just the general idea that COVID is "so unfair" because he was doing such an awesome job before it hit.
It's amazing we have leadership like this right now. It's certainly one for the history books - but it's unfortunate that we have to live through it & deal w/ the consequences. This is really something that should infuriate every American.

Trump has developed a brand new strategy. He normally just lies about things. That has served him well with his followers. But now he is just ignoring Corona. Trump has utterly failed.

Yes- in Moronworld. Is ignoring COVID a good national strategy?
