As someone who sits right on the cusp between boomer and Gen X, even if woke is now some pop culture hit,
it doesn't change the fact that neither myself or any friend of mine uses the term, and I know I would not
know of it unless is was some strange irritant for rightees. Cawacko started leaning on it in derision perhaps
6 months ago like a chew toy. I was like "huh?" Maybe now I've heard talking heads Cuomo or Anderson Cooper
    use in twice. Not sure.

As long as you also don't use terms like "cancel culture" and "Fake News" then you are good to go.

This is from last year when Obama discussed/called out woke political culture and cancel culture.

'That's not bringing about change': Obama advises 'woke' young people not to be so judgmental

Former President Barack Obama has a message for the "politically woke" crowd that has become prolific on social media in recent years: Get over it.

Obama on Call-Out Culture: ‘That’s Not Activism’

Former President Barack Obama made a rare foray into the cultural conversation this week, objecting to the prevalence of “call-out culture” and “wokeness” during an interview about youth activism at the Obama Foundation summit on Tuesday.

Deal on cancel culture. No promises on fake news. That one is too big to avoid. Applies to anything I don't like.
If someone cuts me off in traffic I point and shout fake news!

LOL, the term has been around for years. Get out of your white San Diego bubble homeboy. It's a term used by the youth. Old rich white men don't go around speaking about being woke.

True for most. Rich white guys like Trump and Jeffrey Epstein who hang around college dorms probably know and use the term.

If the word Woke annoys you so much, why not stop using it? Only you and deplorables here obsess over it.

No lefties here are using it, and for that matter Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, and Michelle Obama aren't using it either.

I haven't even heard AOC use it in any measurable way.
It's a deviant mindset. it's dangerous as well in that it distorts reality by viewing the world that way
It's MS Dem in that Dems just go along with it . They dont dare condemn PC

Which is particularly ironic observation now if you can also remember that you pasted that word in my mouth several times in an attempt to degrade me.

It's a mock now - a slur. "Hey, ya little wokies, nyah, nyah, nyah."

    Like children.

Are there some who overused the term, or made it a "better than thou" boast? Of course. But all it means is being aware. Acknowledging the issues that are right in front of our face.

It's something we all should aspire toward. When people mock the term, all I really hear is that they'd prefer to remain in the dark.
You could do this exact thread and substitute "virtue signaling"

Republicans don't do anything good so they spend their time degrading virtuous acts and professed beliefs as mere signals.

Is it better to give to charity and wear a shirt that says you did, or don't give to charity and mock someone who does?
Is is better to wear a mask to save others and be guilty of virtue signaling or not do that, infect others, and make those who do
feel like they are breaking a cultural moray and chill safe habits and complying with scientific best health practices?
The cynicism on the right is metastatic.

Fair point. A least you knew what racist was when I said it. And just to clarify, I don't consider you racist outside of the context of some policies you prefer that have negative racial impact. When you called my "fake woke" I didn't know wtf you were even talking about.

My essential point was only about the astroturfing and strawman nature of critical political memes, tropes and cliches, per the OP

    Agreed.

By broadbrushing all Republicans, you are committing the same error you accuse them of doing.

Again, I agree, but I hope you are wise enough to see that many on the Left are just as guilty of pointing fingers when our nation would be better off if they just did the right thing.

    Yep.

The Fascist Left has redefined "liberal" to mean massive Authoritarian Socialist gov't. And redefined "woke" to mean "no free speech".
"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a storybook, man."
    — Joe Biden on Obama.

Socialism is just the modern word for monarchy.

D.C. has become a Guild System with an hierarchy and line of accession much like the Royal Court or priestly classes.

Private citizens are perfectly able of doing a better job without "apprenticing".
