Default Trump's Sermon on the Mount

WASHINGTON — Standing in a packed amphitheater in front of Mount Rushmore for an Independence Day celebration, President Trump delivered a dark and divisive speech on Friday that cast his struggling effort to win a second term as a battle against a “new far-left fascism” seeking to wipe out the nation’s values and history.

With the coronavirus pandemic raging and his campaign faltering in the polls, his appearance amounted to a fiery reboot of his re-election effort, using the holiday and an official presidential address to mount a full-on culture war against a straw-man version of the left that he portrayed as inciting mayhem and moving the country toward totalitarianism.

“Our nation is witnessing a merciless campaign to wipe out our history, defame our heroes, erase our values and indoctrinate our children,” Mr. Trump said...

I watched Hamilton last night, and it occurred to me that the reason we should celebrate the Founding Fathers is not because they were great guys (they weren't), but because they gave us a genius blueprint to correct the many things they had completely wrong. That's the genius of the Constitution.

I think it should be called The Sermon for his Dismount. I don’t think that speech endeared him to anyone but his cult.
He laments all his woes, but never talks about the most critical things happening in our country. No compassion , no reassurance, he offers no hope. Second worse speech in his career, his inauguration speech was his worst.

It was another divisive speech by the hater in chief. He is declaring war on BLM and those who disagree with him. He is not even pretending to be the president for all the people. He belongs to haters and bigots.

    Best comparison is the inaugural.

Trump likes appealing to the darkness in humanity. Classic demagogue.
