Trump's speeches this weekened have been correctly characterized as the most divisive rhetoric heard from a President during 4th of July celebrations in the modern era.

And the OP states this is pretty much why he voted for Trump.

Trump's re-election strategy is remarkably simple, and cynical. He's going for 270, basically on the nose. Gone are the days of the GOP pursuing a 50 state strategy, or anything close to it.

It gets characterized different ways lol.

If a recitation of the founders accomplishments is ‘divisive’ we have problems.

An observation that adds weight to the suspicion that Trump is mentally off-balanced and delusional. How can he win with 30% of the vote?

No worries. I think most Americans will pick up on what parts are pro-American and which are divisive and harmful to our nation.

Anyone here think Ronald Reagan, were he alive today, would have given a much different speech, a more unifying speech, even in today's environment?

"There is no question former President Trump bears moral responsibility. His supporters stormed the Capitol because of the unhinged falsehoods he shouted into the world’s largest megaphone," McConnell wrote. "His behavior during and after the chaos was also unconscionable, from attacking Vice President Mike Pence during the riot to praising the criminals after it ended."

That's a strategy of failure. It's like taking a 100 question test with 70% passing and skipping the last 30 questions. Silly strategy if true. Trump has four months to pull his failing campaign out of a death spin.

We're wondering about the logic of a guy who lost multiple casinos? His only move is to use them as a threat to the rest of the party. It kept the Senate in line long enough for him to avoid being removed from office. He's making sure his donors keep the checks rolling in. I don't think many rally goers are big donors, so who knows if he's pandering to anyone but himself? Many report that they can't rein in these events because he needs the attention in order to survive.

Thus far, each event he holds drives his polling down. He's doing exactly what you mentioned. Trying anything to move the numbers.

Which accomplishments? Declaring Independence and then going home to beat their slaves, making sure the women couldn't vote, and deciding that only white land owners would have a say in the fate of the country?

He's only speaking to his base, the aforementioned 30% (or less!). He can't win in that strategy all things being equal.

Every lying politician in history (I know...redundant) would at least get up there and parrot the accepted message during these events. They typically call for unity, while behind closed doors they align in opposition like oil/water.

But a POTUS is expected to, at the very least, lie to us about what he'd prefer to do and say.

At this point, he's better off admitting to dementia. The alternative is serious psychosis.

Dude, it was an improvement over what England and every other nation was offering at the time. Do you really think the eradication of Indians and the oppression of Women began in 1789???

I try not to say that aloud.
