In the month of June, it’s been a tale of two outbreaks.
On the one hand, the rise of new COVID-19 infections is disturbing, with the United States setting back-to-back daily records for positive tests. And the rate of positive tests nationwide, which had been hovering around 5 percent, has risen to around 8 percent.
At the same time, however, the number of COVID-19 deaths steadily declined the entire month. In the first five days of June, the average number of deaths per day was 886. From June 20 to June 25 it was 537, a 40% drop.

I saw where some hospitals in Houston [where they had a huge BLM protest] are reaching capacity but I’ve also read where part of that is a consequence of elective procedures being delayed.
It would be interesting to know how many beds actually have COVID patients in them.
There’s something going on either with the virus itself—it may be weakening; or they’re picking up more cases for some reason; or for whatever reason, more young people are getting it—which isn’t a bad thing in terms of herd immunity.
