Default As coronavirus cases soar, Texas issues statewide order requiring face coverings

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order Thursday requiring residents across the state to wear a face-covering in public spaces in counties with 20 or more positive Covid-19 cases.

“Wearing a face covering in public is proven to be one of the most effective ways we have to slow the spread of COVID-19,” Abbott said in a press release.

That makes it applicable to 118 counties leaving 136 exempt.

Sadly, way too late. But he isn't the WORST governor, that honor clearly belong to DeSantis at this point.

Yes, unfortunately our state has had to deal with a governor that tried to be a suck-up for Donald Trump and open up our state much too soon, and first signed a Texas Law that permitted Texans that did not want to wear a mask, would be free to simply not wear a mask at their choosing.

And so now that he has realized he totally fucked up by trying to get some Brownie Points with Donald Trump, he has had to repeal his own law that he signed into law, and close down all the bars, and many other businesses that he encouraged to open, AGAINST THE ORDERS OF THE LOCAL OFFICIALS IN ALL 4 LARGE METROPOLITAN AREAS OF TEXAS, TO KEEP THEM CLOSED.

AND NOW REQUIRING EVERY TEXAN TO WEAR A MASK AT ALL TIMES OUTSIDE THEIR HOMES. That is two complete 180 degree flip-flops he has made since realizing he was a fool for trying to impress Donald Trump. Of course, the governor was invited to the White House, so that Donald Trump could show him off as a STEPFORD WIFE TYPE OF A RED STATE GOVERNOR on National TV a couple of weeks ago.

And Of Course, we still have that idiot state Attorney General, that just 3 days ago went on Fox News and told Shaun Hannity that "The virus is a Democrat HOAX made up to take the president down, and he is not going to require anyone to wear a mask or distance themselves or shut anything down.

So the Republican Leadership in this red-assed state is about as useless, reckless, and deadly as DONALD TRUMP! And so now our state is the 2nd largest HOTSPOT for the virus in the ENTIRE WORLD RIGHT NOW- ONLY 2nd to another red-assed state with a retarded Governor- FLORIDA- WHICH IS NOW THE NUMBER 1 HOTSPOT IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!

And REPUBLITARDS just keep wonderin' how the State Of Texas just keeps getting more purple with every election.

Yeah. We need to trap those germs in those masks right up close to their noses and mouths.
Those flimsy light blue surgical masks are made for protecting others from YOU.
Only masks that are decent for protecting yourSELF from OTHERS are the respirator masks.
Abortion rights dogma can obscure human reason & harden the human heart so much that the same person who feels
empathy for animal suffering can lack compassion for unborn children who experience lethal violence and excruciating
    pain in abortion.

Unborn animals are protected in their nesting places, humans are not. To abort something is to end something
which has begun. To abort life is to end it.

Yes, we know. We've known that since day 1. Which is why those that refuse to wear masks are selfish assholes. They are afforded the protection of those that comply, but refuse to return the favor.

Thought that those who wear masks are protected from those who don't?

That’s also why you keep 6ft away while wearing your mask.

If we could freeze everyone six feet apart for a couple of weeks, the virus would be gone. No hosts to infect. A mask would reduce that distance. But we have to shop, interact with people, etc. So that's not possible. What we know IS possible is to reduce the R0 factor to less than one, at which point the number of cases will drop. Math. Worked everywhere else. But we were too stupid, too stubborn and too eager to get out. Now we start all over again.

Yes, and if everyone wears masks, we are all protected from each other... And the disease really does go away.

No. I have no idea why you thought that. If that was the case, I wouldn't give a crap about the mask deniers. But they are not killing themselves, they are killing those around them. This is the first you've heard of this?

But, that would only be other non-mask wearers. You want them dead anyway, right?
