Default Why Do the Rich Have So Much Power?

Huge disparities in income and wealth translate into comparable disparities in political influence. To see how this works, let’s look at a fairly recent example: the budgetary Grand Bargain that almost happened in 2011.

Both the Obama administration and Republicans were staking out positions that flew in the face of public desires. A large majority has consistently wanted to see Social Security benefits expanded, not cut. A comparably large majority has consistently said that upper-income Americans pay too little, not too much, in taxes.

For those who think Obama is a hero of the Democratic Party. He was far closer to Republicans on issues that mattered: Helping the Upper Class stay in power.

Obama only ever seems good when compared to Republicans. But he was really just a Centrist owned by Wall Street.

More government results in more concentration of wealth at the top of society. It's that simple.

Your opinions of Obama are nothing more than conjecture!

Obama wanted to modernize and correct the Tax rates, to make them fairer. He realized the problem with the Tax Code were the millions of loopholes and thousand of pages of tax code that did benefit the rich and much of Commerce.

But his goal was to both fix the rates and ending the loopholes, and the rich, Commerce, and middle class paying something closer to the same rate.

But, he spent his first 4 years working on the Healthcare Act, and never got the chance to fix the Tax problem, BECAUSE OF BITCH McConnell using his total Obstruction tactics throughout Obama's 2nd term.

Then Donald Trump and BITCH McConnell came along and made the rates more fairer, BUT DID NOT END THE LOOPHOLES THAT WERE THE OVERALL PROBLEM WITH THE TAX CODE TO BEGIN WITH.

And so Biden will now have to Fix the tax problem, by not so much changing rates, but ending the LUNATIC tax loopholes.

Obama never prosecuted a single case of financial fraud. Because he did not want to upset his fellow plutocrats.

He did seem to look forward and not looking back. The Bad behavior was not really crimes, as most of the abuse were risky lending falling through the cracks of a lack of regulations that would have prevented them- in the first place.

In other words, if you build a hole in the system, the opportunists will come, exploit it, and milk it to the hilt.

Obama wanted to fix the holes in the system, and he did! That was the thrust of his presidency.

You do not want to tie up your Justice Department chasing ghosts while trying to punish bad judgement.

Bad judgement and bilking a system that allowed itself to be bilked is not really a crime.

They really were crimes. Obama practically praised them for getting away with murder.
