Default No incumbent president has won reelection after being in ‘as big a hole’ as Trump

With the United States being rocked by the coronavirus pandemic, double-digit unemployment and huge protests in response to the horrific death of George Floyd in Minneapolis on May 25, President Donald Trump finds himself trailing former Vice President Joe Biden — the presumptive 2020 Democratic presidential nominee — in poll after poll. That isn’t to say that a Biden victory in November is inevitable or that Trump’s performance in polls won’t improve, but according to journalist Bill Scher, history shows that Trump’s chances of turning things around are not good.

In a Real Clear Politics article, Scher (a contributing editor at Politico) explains, “It’s only late June. A lot can happen in four months, right? Let me put it this way: in the history of presidential election polling, no elected incumbent president has ever come back from as big a hole as Trump is now in.”

No President was impeached in his first term. (Note: Johnson was not elected President).

You seem to think that the re election of trump is a given, and nothing will convince you that he has some huge problems.

He has some huge problems, but he still has the better chance of winning.

WHY does he have a better chance of winning, after doing almost everything wrong.

There has never been a POTUS as disgusting as tRump. As such, the re-election component is moot.
Please leave your Trump 2024 signs in your yard. That way, my dog will know where to take a dump.

Because the candidate who wins is always the candidate with the stronger support. Trump is super unpopular, but he also has much stronger support than Biden. People who are voting for Biden generally just seem him as the lesser evil.

Trump is the most awful person on the planet. Not about lesser of two evils.

Other than his base, trump support is eroding rapidly. Thats why you see the polling results. If the election were now, Biden would win by a blowout.

One third of the nation supports fascism. Two thirds support democracy. Trump is too racist even for his own party.

But the point is Trump has lots of support in the form of people who really like him. Most people who support Biden don't really like him, they just hate Trump.

Maybe. But as long as Biden doesn't have strong support, he's still a longshot.
