I just look at Italy. Yes, they started out in disarray, like us, but ended up marshaling their efforts and fighting back against the disease. It is pathetic that we are not as organized as Italy. ITALY!!!

Well, Italy also hasn't had numerous protests. Italy also has a lower testing rate than us and a higher death rate than us.

The ironic thing about Italy's situation is that the high death rate might have actually made it easier for them to move on. When someone recovers from COVID rather than dying, it is possible for them to still spread the virus later. Also, quarantining efforts aren't perfect. A lot of people who attempt to isolate during their infection can still accidentally spread the virus if they aren't careful.

So, in effect, a country with a higher survival rate can actually have more of a problem with virus spread. When people die from the virus, we usually put their corpses in places that aren't likely to spread the virus to others. Obviously, isolating a corpse from the general population is much easier to do than to isolate a living person.

Masks are now required in all public indoor places as of today in our city. Since the grocery store was the only public indoor place I'd visit maskless, I will now order my groceries for pickup. That's common sense and reduces the likelihood of cross contamination .
Wearing masks that are not fresh is more of a source of cross contamination than not wearing one. That's not using common sense.
The protocol I posted for hand washing and wearing gloves to prevent cross contamination is also common sense. Very few people follow that protocol.
