Most of these people won't be able to move so you just made them unemployed

This is what unchecked leftism gets you. I am so fucking pleased

“My biggest concern for Seattle was what the business community is going to come back to, and what kind of businesses are going to come back for customers.”

He found that metro Phoenix offers a better quality of life.

“My colleagues can pick the socio-economic rung of life that they want … live their lives, build
their households and have a family if they’d like,” Smead said.

Yeah, no one could “never see coming” a business relocating, it just seldom happens

Before you start celebrating, rest assured, this is not the end of Seattle, when an opening surfaces another jumps in to fill it

I don’t doubt there is vaccines in Seattle, just as there are elsewhere, but that doesn’t mean the threatening Armageddon for Seattle as is being implied

Been hearing the same theme echoed about Northeastern cities for decades, and most are not just still standing, but thriving, all the references as “shitholes” couldn’t be further from the truth

A billion dollar investment firm might spend 0.2% of that on itself. That would be about $20 million. The rest gets invested in companies in Silicon Valley and Seattle. Less than 5% of that would go to local taxes, so less than a million lost in its tax base.

Meanwhile, Amazon's new building adds about $100 million a year to the Seattle tax base.

Moving out of Seattle makes a statement that you care more about cost saving than contacts. Maybe that is a good decision for him. I have never heard of Smead, so really do not know.

I think you are missing the point that they wanted to be in Seattle because of the excellent business environment, it was just too expensive and difficult. Any limited resource has a bidding process on it. Seattle is in high demand, and is limited, so it is getting bid through the roof.

Believe me, if there were real vacancies in NYC, Seattle, or San Francisco/Silicon Valley, I would move in so fast your head would spin. Prices may get pushed down from the stratosphere, but will remain insanely high.
