Default Hattie McDaniel & Uncle Ben

The Woke Taliban have won. HBO Max announced on Tuesday it is blacklisting Gone With the Wind (1939), and with it, Hattie McDaniel’s performance for which she won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar of 1940.

McDaniel was not only the first black actor or actress to win an Oscar, she was the first black person ever to win an Oscar of any kind, and the first black person to even be nominated. Other than Merle Oberon, who was both Asian and Polynesian, McDaniel was the first racial minority ever nominated for any category.

Frankly, I do not give a damn about what happens to copies of old movies. At best, motion pictures was always a subculture. Better yet, Hollywood parasites are in their death throes.

I am truly concerned abut why Hattie McDaniel never got a dinner. The sad truth is that a lot of famous black Americans never got a dinner.

Uncle Ben not getting a dinner is probably the biggest slight of all. Move the cursor to 1:40 to hear why Ben deserved a dinner:

I will never know why HBO Max does not blacklist Casablanca? The Woke Taliban must be sleeping at the switch!

    2. Many experts consider Casablanca the most romantic movie ever made. In fact Casablanca qualifies as a musical. Not because of the song As Time Goes By, but because there are twenty or so different pieces of music in Casablanca; mostly as background music; some are played twice. Hell, they even managed to squeeze the French National Anthem in there.

Just why the Socialists/Communists are not up in arms over Casablanca being honored is beyond me. Sam, the black piano player played by Dooley Wilson, sings As Time Goes By. He also sings this song in the background:

(Frankie Laine’s rendition of Shine was mildly successful.)

Now imagine putting Shine in a movie today, and have a black guy sing it! If the word niggardly that had nothing to do with race is a no-no to Socialists just think what the race hustlers can do with Shine. One would think that the politically correct crowd would be outraged by the lyrics.

    Shine

    Frankie Laine

    Cause my hair is curly
Just because my teeth are pearly
Just because I always wear a smile
Like to dress up in the latest style

    Cause I'm glad I'm livin'
I take these troubles all with a smile
    Just because my color's shady
That's the difference, maybe, why they call me

    Shine, sway your blues'ies
    Why don't you shine?
    Start with your shoes'ies
Shine each place up, make it look like new
Shine your face up, I want to see you wear a smile or two

Why don't you shine your these and thoseies?
You'll find everything gonna turn out right fine
Folks will shine up to ya'
    Everybody's gonna howdy doody do-ya'
You'll make the whole world shine

    Oh chocolate drop, that's me...

Cause my hair is curly, (man's got curly hair)
Now just because my teeth are pearly, (also got pearly teeth)
Just because I always wear a smile, (oh keep on smiling)
Like to dress us, babe, in the latest style

    Cause I'm glad I'm livin'
I take these troubles all with a smile
Now just because my color's shady (you's a shady baby)
That's the difference, maybe, why they call me...

    Shine away your blues'ies
    Shine, start with your shoes'ies
You'll make the whole world shine

Where have J. Jackson and all da black reverends been all these years?

The premise of Casablanca glorified Socialism/Communism by making fascism the greater evil (they are two sides of the same coin as I said often enough). In WWII movies, fictional courageous characters took up arms against the Nazis, but never against Soviet Communists. Fighting for Communism without talking about it was the way idealism was defined by Hollywood in those days. It still is as time goes by.

Rick, played by Humphrey Bogart, is a sleazy bar owner who sells Sam like a piece of property along with selling the bar to another white guy. That is one more reason the race hustlers should be screaming bloody murder.

As far as romance goes: Ilsa, the woman that Ingrid Bergman played, was a trollop. If they ever do a remake of Casablanca, the ending would have a gang of bad bikers pull up to Rick's Café and proceed to engage in some serious ass-kicking. The final scene would show Ilsa going off on the back of the gang leader's bike to find happiness servicing the gang as Big Momma Biker Bitch.

My gal Judi included two songs on Youtube that are always worth hearing again:
