German officials call US troop withdrawal a ‘wake-up call for Europeans’ & chance to loosen ties
Dietmar Bartsch, who leads the non-mainstream Left Party, wasn’t as reserved. He fired off a somewhat incendiary tweet, saying the government should thank Washington and lay the groundwork for “a full withdrawal of US soldiers” during talks with the Trump administration.
If it happens, the departing troops “should take the American atomic bombs with them at the same time,” Bartsch added.
His sentiment was somewhat echoed by Johann Wadephul, who co-heads the ruling coalition’s faction in the parliament. Trump and his team are “neglecting a fundamental management task: the involvement of the allies in decision-making processes,” he stated. For him, the news provides an opening to make Europe less dependent on the US.

I am sure some Germans are happy about it.
Russian trolls and their supporters go on Ignore, automatically: no second chance.
Trump did this childish antic, in removing troops from Germany, because Chancellor Merkel would attend his G-7 meeting in the US, Trump seems to think things are back to normal, Germany is fighting a pandemic too?!! There will be no G-7 meeting!
Quite a few won't be happy about it. The US military adds billions to the German economy in consumer spending alone. All those military members and their dependents spend a lot of money in the German economy around the bases they are stationed at. The US also pays rent to the German government for the bases. That ends if the US turns the base over to Germany.
Also, because the troops leaving are ground units in the Army, the German Army is going to have to pick up the cost of covering operations the US units were assigned to. This means German defense spending will rise, and it is. So, while the American hating Left in Germany might be thrilled the US is leaving, more rational centrists see it as an economic loss all around.
For example, Merkel's Union bloc said they couldn't see "any factual reason for the withdrawals" and called the move "regrettable."

German Conservatives are quite upset the US is leaving... The reverse position of Germany's Left.

On the whole, Germany is quite divided over the US being there, regardless of the title of this article. 42% would like to see the US leave, 37% want the US to stay, and 21% are undecided. That's no solid majority and reads more like a very divided set of opinions on this.

Interestingly, both the radical Right and Left in Germany want the US out the most. I'd suspect they see the US being gone as a potential advantage to try and take power. Not a good thing either way.

Watch Russia respond by invading Germany!
Watch this space!
Going to miss all that money.

The USA has lost WWIV to China with no other weapons but China Virus and some cash to buy democrats.
Germany gives us some of the most valuable large properties in the world, for free. They could use that property for industry and do far better with it. They pay for the property because they used to believe we would help defend them (and more importantly because we were able to make the Russians believe we would defend Germany). No one thinks that anymore, so why should they waste the money on us?
Germany is in a dangerous position. They have invested trillions of dollars into being safe, and trump has betrayed that agreement. More importantly, there is literally no agreement that trump can make at this point that would make the German's safe.
Lets say the Germans agree to pay extra so that trump can make a profit. That would only cover the troops there, which means that if there is a war, they are on their own. They could not come up with the money to cover our troops in a war. More importantly, EVERYONE KNOWS THAT, so the money they would pay trump would literally buy them nothing.
So now Germany has to figure out new allies.... And America has to learn we have no more allies with trump.
Simply another political childish stunt.... Meerkel dissed me, fuck the alliance & germany..
Best leader ever, just not fair, I'll show hercrybaby drumpf.jpg
"There is no question former President Trump bears moral responsibility. His supporters stormed the Capitol because of the unhinged falsehoods he shouted into the world’s largest megaphone," McConnell wrote. "His behavior during and after the chaos was also unconscionable, from attacking Vice President Mike Pence during the riot to praising the criminals after it ended."
