    Gen. Mattis:

“The duty of silence. If you leave an administration, you owe some silence. When you leave an administration over clear policy differences, you need to give the people who are still there as much opportunity as possible to defend the country. They still have the responsibility of protecting this great big experiment of ours. I know the malevolence some people feel for this country, and we have to give the people who are protecting us some time to carry out their duties without me adding my criticism to the cacophony that is right now so poisonous.”

He does not set foreign policy, Trumper.

    The POTUS sets foreign policy.

The general is a military hero but he was not in the military as Sec. of Defense.

He should have heeded his own advice.

General Mattis, probably believe in the principal that this country if founded on, and Trump is trying to dissolve the US Constitution and set-up himself as dictator, so it is General Mattis's duty to speak-up.

So Earl, you've got no problems with Trump subverting the constitution and setting himself as dictator.

This has been explained to you already, Trumper.

The Yale psychiatrist did not conduct a personal, on site, clinical evaluation of the president.

    He violated ethics of psychiatry.

Yup, and we should listen to him when he speaks out, they do not do that lightly.

Earl, most people don't need a psychiatrist's evaluation to see that Trump is psychotic.

When people make the comparison, there is an instant freak-out - like every single thing is being compared.

Comparing Trump to Hitler doesn't mean he's a genocidal maniac. But it's okay to talk about the concept that they both use the same manipulation, division & scapegoating techniques in their rhetoric. It's like they both went to the same school for that or something; it's fairly uncanny.

LIke him or not, Hitler was not weak. Trump is weak.

Trump has almost 40% support, but if he started taking any action, he would lose at least 10% of it.

Foreign policy is set by the president.

The General is an American hero for his military service but he no longer was in the military as the Sec. of Defense.

    Sorry but you are wrong.
    Main Duties
The main job of the U.S. secretary of defense is to plan, develop and execute policies that concern the military affairs and national security of the country.
The president has final say but the SECDEF is responsible to ensure the president has all the facts prior to making a decision.

Trump does not sit in the white house and make these plans alone, he has others to do that for him. His sole purpose is to review and modify, reject, or approve the plans. So when he makes changes it is the responsibility of his advisors to tell he if they believe he is making a mistake. Like it or not Trump's EGO will not allow anyone to tell him he is wrong about anything.
