Thumbs up Proposes police and riot reforms

Serious congressional legislation proposal for both sides.

    Police Reform

    1) Better police hiring and training programs and practices. (This would be hard to enforce federally, but you could create guidelines to be used.)

    2) Body cams and cruiser cams mandated.

    3) End immunity clause given to police.

    4) Only allow special prosecutors, from state AG office, to review and try cases against police. Only allow IAD or a neighboring county to investigate an officer. (This would get rid of the cozy relationship between local prosecutor and local PD.)

    5) Mandate police outreach programs, town halls, etc.

    Riot Reform

    1) Anyone who loots or burns down a building will be arrested and tried for crimes. No matter if they are caught in the act or at a later time. (No more, well it was during a riot so we are going to let it slide.)

    2) Creating of a special agency or FBI task force whose sole purpose is to investigate domestic terror groups responsible for creating chaos and riots. Specifically to go after Antifa, and Anarchist groups.

    3) Special tasks force or agency to go after looters, and rioters post riots. Have special police divisions whose purpose is to hunt down who has stolen merchandise and make arrests.

    4) Increase penalties for rioting and looting. Most these people spend a few days in jail and are rarely charged. No longer. Make it a felony or federal crime and have these people punished from 1-10 years depending on the severity of the crime.

    5) Anyone who makes threats against police, or tries to attack a police officer will be tried for a federal crime. With minimum sentences of 20 years if convicted.

pre-requisite for being an officer an active membership in a grappling club with 3 year minimal experience in said art, not karate, or some other bullshido, not muy thai or striking arts, but grappling arts like jiu jitsu, Cops should be at minimum a purple belt in jiu jitsu or equiv practice.

Interesting, but 3 years? You're going to have 2 cops for all of NYC.

That's just it. Make it part of the application process, scout in high schools etc.

but that's just it, to me a police officer who is not skilled in such is a liability on the street.

There has to be a change, and training, is one of them. you are getting a job where you will have to subdue people, shouldn't you be intimately familiar in how to do that in as many varying situations as possible? This is why I see chauvin as a murderer, he had some knowledge, he knew to "fish" for the corotid, knew to raise his other knee off the ground to make it brutal.

Did he know how brutal? Anything any cop is willing to do to a citizen, he should be intimately familiar with how it feels.

    @irish

I would also be open to amending that to a year, or some other appropriate time, there would of course need to be not only a skill test, but a knowledge test.

Go talk to the police where you live and find out the challenges they already face recruiting before you go adding more problems.
Theyre outnumbered, outgunned and betrayed by the polititians.

Go ask what they presently do. You might be surprized.

I teach jiu jitsu at a very famous and well known school here in chelsea, we get some cops, but not as much as we should, and the most scary ones are the ones who quit after a month, they had the taste, then left. they are no longer ignorant, but negligent at that point IMO.

Most cops do not train, If I had to guess, less than 10%

My post was in response to the full range of training involved. Learning juijitsu would be nice but they are trained in a subset of necessary techniques that are suitable for their needs.

Police 1-5 need immediate action on each item.

    Rioters
    1. Yes must be done
    2. I believe the FBI already has a domestic terrorism force along with homeland security.
    3. Good idea but most likely unworkable.
    4. Yes need stricter punishments.

Perhaps they could include it in the police academies.

nah, like the jiu jitsu taught in the army now, it sucks.

like going to college, and certain jobs having pre-requisites, this should be like that and there should be minimum training hourse per month per officer at respectable schools.
