    A risky move on McConnell's part. But no doubt it was calculated.

    The first concern/priority for Mitch McConnell at this point is for his own political future. And by extension his Republican party. Donald Trump has become toxic with a large part of the American voting public....including with a lot of long time committed republicans.

    I'd say this was a smart position to take on McConnell's part.

    I agree. Not just an American move, a shrewd one. Staining Trump forever will in the eyes of many important Democrats
    be a yuge olive branch and earn Republicans some spendable political capital.

    Not a Mitch fan - but politically, he's one of the smartest guys out there.
