Usually, presidents try to expand their bases. Trump thinks the haters and bigots outnumber the Dems. So he is being childishly confrontational.

Interesting perspective, and would normally fit, but I think Trump threw out all the standard understanding of traditional politics

I'd wager, as you said, he is counting on strengthening his base by escalating the hate while at the same time using the attacks to portray his opponent as evil and crooked, thereby creating the either/or supposed selection he did so well with in the last election. That way he can deflect from making the campaign about issues and policy, the failures of his tenure, and all about how corrupt Biden is as a candidate.

Demogoguery fits the strategdy perfectly, and with the aid of the right wing media endorsing Trump's hate, is his strategdy

In reality, it is Trump who wants a continuation of events so that he can play the Nixonian law and order candidate

They used it to dissolve a liberal consensus about crime that involved federal court decisions and a push back against illegal drugs and violent gang activity. Richard Nixon in his political campaign to persuade both people who were tired of political assassinations as well as those who were concerned about increasing crimes. White ethnics in northern cities turned against the Democratic Party, blaming it for being soft on crime and rioters" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_and_order_(politics)

As I noted, Trump would love for the protests to continue endlessly, especially the looting, then he could play the law and order candidate, he is in no hurry to do anything to quiet the anger and unite Americans as past Presidents have done, in fact, when possible, he does his best to throw fuel on the fire

Democrats ARE soft on crime. You're seeing it play out in the big cities right now...

Well one thing is for sure, and this is that America's "Great Silent Majority" will roar on the 3rd of November this year. I predict they will deliver a landslide victory for "The Donald" just like they did in 1972 for Nixon when he won 49 out of the 50 states. That's what happens in the US, dude, when mobs of dirty, long-haired, soft-cock, Leftist scumbags with nose rings and "guaged" ears (like de Blasios' nut job, SJW daughter) go on the march in NYC screaming and yelling out their support for communism.

Jesus christ, people are still dumb enough to trot out this canard? They swapped platforms with the republicans, dumbass. Now the GOP owns segregation, new Jim Crow, and disenfranchisement. You're the authoritarian fascists. Which fits perfectly with your biblical, apocalyptic view of the world. You all imagine yourselves surviving the end of the world, when in reality your group (old, sick, dumb) will be the first to die the most horrible deaths.
