Long line of mourners for former St. Louis police captain, including Gov. Parson
Hundreds of people waited for more than an hour in the hot sun to pay respects to retired Capt. David Dorn, who was killed during a looting incident last week.
ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A former St. Louis police captain, murdered during a night of widespread looting as he defended a pawn shop, is remembered and honored with a long line of people wanting to pay him their respects on Tuesday.
The public visitation for Capt. David Dorn had a line curling around Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church on the side for much of the day. Many say they waited more than a hour in the hot sun just to get in the church.
There were friends, family, police officers, many who worked with him and political figures from the local and state level – including Gov. Mike Parson. His presence was announced and those in the room began to applaud. Parson read from a plaque prepared for Dorn's family and presented it to them. Other political figures there include Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt and St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson.
