Default Twitter censors Trump's Minneapolis tweet

Twitter has once again taken action against President Trump, this time censoring a tweet for "glorifying violence" in his late-night response to the ongoing violence in Minneapolis.

Trump said he couldn't not just watch the city be overwhelmed by the unrest over the death of George Floyd.

ďI canít stand back & watch this happen to a great American City, Minneapolis,Ē Trump tweeted. ďA total lack of leadership. Either the very weak Radical Left Mayor, Jacob Frey, get his act together and bring the City under control, or I will send in the National Guard & get the job done right.

Critics on Twitter said Trump's comments had racial undertones and said the term "when the looting starts, the shooting starts" can be traced back to Miami Police Chief Walter Headley in 1967 as a threat to black protestors during the civil rights movement.

When asked for comment, Twitter pointed to a thread explaining the decision.

"This Tweet violates our policies regarding the glorification of violence based on the historical context of the last line, its connection to violence, and the risk it could inspire similar actions today," Twitter Comms wrote. "We've taken action in the interest of preventing others from being inspired to commit violent acts, but have kept the Tweet on Twitter because it is important that the public still be able to see the Tweet given its relevance to ongoing matters of public importance."

    WTF.
I'm pretty hip on 60's trivia and was in the streets for anti-war movement - but never heard this.

So Twitter digs back to an obscure reference , and then claims using that reference is racial??? LOL

Now it's been tweeted by the official white house account.

Heres hoping they march the troops in on the rioters and common thieves in Minnesota. Maybe give warning to any of the peaceful protesters that NOW is the time to leave. But if you choose to stay, if you loot pillage and burn, you will be dealt with. THAT is what should happen IMO...

No, they claimed it incited violence. Can you please read before commenting so we don't have to constantly correct you?

Someone decided to hit back at the bully. And all the whiny little baby cult members clutch their pearls and scream at the sky. Too funny.

They better not mess with the peaceful protestors, they do not have to leave, they have done nothing wrong. It is only those that riot and loot who are breaking the law.

Maybe Twitter is doing Trump a favor, by protecting Trump from Trump.

Twitter is private property and is not obligated to host Donald Trump's blatant lies, libel, and racism

Trump is free to start his own social media platform using his own money.

"Federal Communications Commission Commissioner Brendan Carr scolded Twitter on "Tucker Carlson Tonight" Wednesday for attaching a fact check to a tweet from President Trump, saying the decision represents "their own political, partisan viewpoint."

"Since the 2016 election, the far left has hopped from hoax to hoax to hoax to try to explain the laws of the ballot box," Carr told host Tucker Carlson. "One of them is, they go after online platforms for the crime, in their view, of being neutral in the 2016 election, and they are committed to making sure these online platforms are not neutral again."

On Tuesday, Twitter slapped a fact check notification on one of Trump's tweets for the first time, cautioning users that despite the president’s claims about mail-in voting, “fact checkers” say there is “no evidence” that it would increase fraud risks.

TWITTER EXEC OVERSEEING FACT CHECK EFFORT HAS HISTORY OF ANTI-TRUMP TWEETS

Carr accused Twitter of engaging in "political speech against the president," arguing that "these are not fact checks that are going on, this is opinion journalism."

Twitter should register as a political action committee.

    That's what they are.

I think our Reichwing friends forget that as a private business, Twitter is free to set its standards of use and enforce them. If you don't like them, don't post there.

For the record, Twitter did not censor the Instigator-in-Chief's post; it merely hid it. It's still viewable. They should have also hidden his post calling the protesters "THUGS". We all know what *that* is a dog-whistle for, don't we?

In normal times we would ALL be shocked and appalled at the deplorable spectacle of an American president calling for the deaths of his citizens. But given the pandemic and #COVID45's utter lack of remorse or responsibility for his part in the unacceptable death toll, nothing is surprising any more.
