    Default Masks as a talisman

As the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic continues to explode, hospital systems are scrambling to intensify their measures for protecting patients and health care workers from the virus. An increasing number of frontline providers are wondering whether this effort should include universal use of masks by all health care workers. Universal masking is already standard practice in Hong Kong, Singapore, and other parts of Asia and has recently been adopted by a handful of U.S. hospitals.

We know that wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection. Public health authorities define a significant exposure to Covid-19 as face-to-face contact within 6 feet with a patient with symptomatic Covid-19 that is sustained for at least a few minutes (and some say more than 10 minutes or even 30 minutes). The chance of catching Covid-19 from a passing interaction in a public space is therefore minimal. In many cases, the desire for widespread masking is a reflexive reaction to anxiety over the pandemic.

Yup. I remember Birx said to wear a mask "ONLY IF YOU CAN'T KEEP THE 6 FT DISTANCE."
The main cause of catching WuFlu is hand to face direct contact.
Abortion rights dogma can obscure human reason & harden the human heart so much that the same person who feels
empathy for animal suffering can lack compassion for unborn children who experience lethal violence and excruciating
    pain in abortion.

Unborn animals are protected in their nesting places, humans are not. To abort something is to end something
which has begun. To abort life is to end it.

Cuomo also pointed out that masks have proven to be effective in preventing further spread of the coronavirus. He added, “We have to culturalize the masks. We have to customize the masks for New York to get New Yorkers to wear them.”

Masks are effective? Is that so, Andrew?

And what’s with ‘culturalizing’ masks? What’s that even mean?

More control. Identity politics. Certain groups of people will have to wear different color masks. To identify them. That Jewish insignia thing in Nazi Germany all over again.

Maybe that’s what he meant by ‘customizing’ them.

In any event, he’s on the wrong side of the NEJM. I’ll wager he’s quite aware of it too.

NEJM says it requires extended close contact—perhaps up to 30 minutes with an infected individual.

Apparently, COVID is Uber contagious—but only under certain circumstances and conditions.

They need to keep this under wraps if they want the lockdowns to continue.

"I wear a mask to show that I care about others" I saw someone say....in other words it is virtue signaling.

Those who dont wear one are not ready for UTOPIA for sure.

If people want to virtue signal and wear a mask, fine whatever.

My problem is they are mishandled so much I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if they don’t exacerbate things.

Not Making Sense is not a problem for so many now you understand.....it is a direct result of so many deciding to and being allowed to live in Fantasy Land.

    True enough.
I can't use those masks. The first inhale is fine, but after that I can't handle the hot CO2. I resorted to the
trusty bandana when asked with no problem. I learned that is supposedly only giving about 5% protection though.
A few weeks ago I read where a shield is the best against giving or getting germs (about 95% effective).
I've got all these clear page protector sleeves I use for my DIY soap and DIY ejuice recipes in notebooks. So, I went
DIY with a shield. I took one, attached it to a skinny headband and voila! It covers eyes, nose, mouth, cost about 25 cents
to make, wipe it off with a soapy sponge, rinse it, towel dry it, spritz it with alcohol all in under 1 minute and will last forever.
Is this what they call 'sustainable' these days? Or is it just plain old reusable forever?

I associate PPE with work so I just can’t bring myself to wear stuff like that in public lol.

Yeah, I'm hip. It's funny though.....it's so plain, colorless and inconspicuous that no one really notices it
until they get pretty close. The headband is so skinny and flesh-toned, nothing like the professional ones.
I can understand though how you'd probably be sick of it after having to wear one so much at work.
