Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

Believe nothing on the faith of traditions, even though they have been held in honor for many generations and in diverse places. Do not believe a thing because many people speak of it. Do not believe on the faith of the sages of the past. Do not believe what you yourself have imagined, persuading yourself that a God inspires you. Believe nothing on the sole authority of your masters and priests. After examination, believe what you yourself have tested and found to be reasonable, and conform your conduct thereto.

Hello Damocles,
That would be giving the president credit for what governors did. Rather disingenuous. I recall him passing on responsibility and claiming it was up to governors to solve their own problems.
Polling reveals people place a lot more faith/credit in what governors have done than DT.

No. Actually. Pointing out that he began action in January before anybody thought it was needed tends to belie that remark.
Anyway, if you are handing him the blame for what Governors did (like that idiot in NY who actually sent sick folk back to their old folks homes instead of keeping them in hospital) then you are simply trying to present a double standard. Either these governors are "heroes" or like that idiot in NY they are the cause of most of the death in the US... or possibly everybody was doing their best and NY voted in a truly moronic idiot who killed a crapload of old people.

Obama Shreds Trump's Pandemic Response: 'Absolute Chaotic Disaster'
Former President Barack Obama unloaded on President Trump’s mishandling of the coronavirus crisis, calling it “an absolute chaotic disaster.” Obama’s critique was captured in a recording of a private phone conversation with former members of his administration.
Obama could also be heard on the call, obtained by Yahoo News and released on Friday, discussing this week’s move by the Justice Department to drop charges against Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn, characterizing the decision as putting “our basic understanding of rule of law is at risk.”
While talking about the Trump administration’s handling of the pandemic and the international response, the former president spoke to the importance of the coming presidential election and signaled an increased role for himself. Obama also talked about a battle against growing longterm trends of “being selfish” and tribal divides.
“This election that’s coming up on every level is so important because what we’re going to be battling is not just a particular individual or a political party. What we’re fighting against is these longterm trends in which being selfish, being tribal, being divided, and seeing others as an enemy — that has become a stronger impulse in American life,” Obama said.

At one press conference, Trump claimed “total authority”.
“When somebody's the President of the United States, the authority is total, and that's the way it's got to be”
“The authority of the President of the United States having to do with the subject we're talking about is total."
And after speaking about local governments, he said, “They can't do anything without the approval of the President of the United States."
