The reality is there's always going to be injustice in the world and this country. So from that perspective there's always reason to protest and in essence never stand for the national anthem. So if the national anthem was intended as a source of pride and unity, maybe we should just not have it.

I always felt so stupid because it reminded me of third grade. And my wife who is a German citizen , not even dual citizenship, would be there . If there are Russians or Chinese attending would they be expected to pledge allegiance to our flag?
If I were in the military or boy scouts, I get it. But not as a private civilian citizen. It's not like we're at war.
I find the expectation of honoring your country to be childish especially when there are parts of this country I have no respect for and would just as soon be part of another country.

Civil rights is a national issue.

All Americans have the right and expectation that local law enforcement comport themselves to minimum standards of conduct.
