My understanding is we sang the national anthem during baseball games, maybe just the World Series, during WWI. And it was a show of patriotism. It was done periodically following and then done again during WWII. I have zero problem with that.
If they don't play it anymore I wouldn't lose sleep but I like it because it's something that should unite us all as Americans and with so much division I like things that can potentially unite us. Of course, like most things the anthem is a divider now.
I went to a Warriors game earlier this year and a 70 year old white lady was sitting a few rows in front of me in a $1K/ticket seat. She stood up and turned her back to the court during the national anthem. I found some irony in that but at the end of the day its her choice and life goes on.
AM I, I AM's,AM I.
What day is Michaelmas on?
I didn’t say that. Please don’t put words in my mouth. Obviously racism is a major problem but you haven’t been paying attention if you don’t realize that the militarization of our police is also a major problem and one that exacerbates the racism problem.
So spare me the illogical false dichotomy. It’s not just possible but probable that both racism and militarization are a problem in our police forces. They are not mutually exclusive.
