I don't understand MN standards and/or guidelines for cops there. There is no reason to have placed pressure on the neck of someone on the ground
and cuffed resulting in asphyxiating him. Sit on the guys legs. Tie his ankles together if you must. But, THIS was outrageous.
Abortion rights dogma can obscure human reason & harden the human heart so much that the same person who feels
empathy for animal suffering can lack compassion for unborn children who experience lethal violence and excruciating
    pain in abortion.

Unborn animals are protected in their nesting places, humans are not. To abort something is to end something
which has begun. To abort life is to end it.

In Minnesota it's RIOTERS AND LOOTERS.............

In Hong Kong this would be PROTESTERS...........

In Minnesota businesses owners are arrested for daring to open their businesses.
But, it's OK to steal from them.
Maybe the rioters were all 6 feet apart, so it was alright.

Your token nod to the naughty policeman is noted. Too bad you had to ruin it with bashing the protesters. Sometimes it's a good time to STFU.

rioters. i'm not one-dimensional. whoever is in the wrong...is in the wrong. the cops were wrong. the looters were wrong.
i don't stereotype an entire group. each incident/case is separate and individual.

Sadly according to some here when there is an injustice done to a black man by a white cop then the black community has every right to riot and loot and destroy private property. That will teach "the man" a lesson, to hell with the fact most of those mom and pop stores are owned by black people.

Yes, I remember back during the dark Obama years, the dog whistles from the White House egging on police assassinations. Serving Black Lies Matters steak dinners after their killings.

Kap is a moron. He had the attention of the entire nation during one of the most important elections in history. Not only did he do nothing to make real change via voting at the local levels, he didn't even vote. He 'doesn't think it matters'.

He's a fool. Doesn't mean that kneeling is wrong. He's just too stupid to take the next step.

Of course, he isn't even black, so it means little or nothing to him. Still doesn't make it wrong to kneel.

Hey pussy. What do you think of the black soldiers who returned home with no basic rights in this nation?

Just had a half-century-ago flashback. My parents and some other adults in my life said the exact same shit about the civil rights and anti-war protests/riots in the 1960s.

Just like it did in the 1770s, sometimes liberty and freedom come at a price.

I agree with the need for prison reform and that locking up more people is not beneficial for society. I'll offer a personal conundrum however. The war on drugs has been a failure. Yet, if you can imagine, in San Francisco the brazen open drug dealing and drug use has gotten even worse. On one hand you become so accustom to it that you internalize it as normal but on the other hand it's not acceptable.

And I totally agree that we lock up too many non violent criminals. In California, or at least the Bay Area, we made stealing less than $1K worth of goods no longer a felony and basically said we aren't going to pursue charges against people. Now we have groups of people going into stores during broad daylight stealing things off shelves with no concerns at all. Short of someone being anti-capitalist or anarchists I don't imagine most people want to see that.

So it's like this back and forth between the need for less people in prison and how much of the type of activity like above are we willing to tolerate.
Those are very good points but it goes back to the question “why don’t other countries have this problem and what can we learn from them?”.

Well...many nations simply kill or maim criminals.

    Protestors?

Burning down buildings and destroying businesses is not protesting, it's criminal.

Seeing the jungle on fires removes any sympathy I ever had for this situation.
