I myself choose to go to the polling place - I live in a fairly affluent, majority white area and there are enough polling places I never have to stand in line for more than 5-10 minutes. No one anywhere should have to stand in line for more than 15 minutes.

I am sure you know what areas have long, long waits. That is by design to discourage voting in those blue areas. Reds cut polling places to overload specific precincts. They are in blue areas. They often wait many hours to vote.
Mail-in results in smarter voting. You get a ballot a couple of weeks early and have time to check out down-ballot races, judges and proposals. It is a win -win for America but takes away the power of the Repubs to depress Dem votes.
