The United States has never had a civil war. The so-called Civil War is actually a War of Secession. A civil war is when two or more factions attempt to seize power. The Southern Confederacy had left the Union. They were not trying to take over the Union. The States still retain to the right to secede. They still retain the right to destroy the Constitution and dissolve the federal government.
