Democrats must punish Tlaib and Omar if they're truly serious about antisemitism
Morality is so fragile. The moment we fail to recognize good vs. evil, the concept ceases to exist.
This is happening before our eyes. Hamas, an internationally recognized terrorist organization supported by Iran, has shot more than 2,000 missiles at dozens of major Israeli cities and towns with the intent to murder as many Jews as possible and terrorize Israelis.
Thousands of civilians – men, women and children – have been forced to bomb shelters as explosions surround them. But for Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system, thousands of Israelis would have been killed by these missiles.
Hamas has successfully encouraged mobs in Israel to riot and to indiscriminately assault Jews. Four synagogues were also torched, the most vile antisemitic attacks on Jews since WWII. This is the textbook definition of terror: “the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.”
Hamas has made clear that their attacks on civilians are in pursuit of their antisemitic aim, as expressed in Article 7 of their Covenant to destroy the state of Israel: “the Day of Judgment will not come until Muslims fight Jews and kill them.”
Astonishingly, Sen. Bernie Sanders and U.S. Reps. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar, among other Democratic members of Congress, are actually condemning Israel while it is under indiscriminate bombardment by an entity committed to its destruction.
Tlaib and Omar support the Boycott Divestment and Sanction (BDS) campaign against Israel. Supporting BDS falls under the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) working definition of antisemitism that the Biden administration has adopted.
