The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is conflating the results of two different types of coronavirus tests, distorting several important metrics and providing the country with an inaccurate picture of the state of the pandemic.

We’ve learned that the CDC is making, at best, a debilitating mistake: combining test results that diagnose current coronavirus infections with test results that measure whether someone has ever had the virus. The upshot is that the government’s disease-fighting agency is overstating the country’s ability to test people who are sick with COVID-19. The agency confirmed to The Atlantic on Wednesday that it is mixing the results of viral and antibody tests, even though the two tests reveal different information and are used for different reasons.

How can these people be so dumb?

The CDC is putting spot test results in with serum antibody test results. How can they NOT know to not do that? It will lead to an artificial increase in case counts—and worthless data.

CDC apologists: the CDC is either incredibly inept or they are plain stupid. Or they have agenda. Pick one.

So all those rising case numbers ‘that are suddenly exploding in a timely fashion’ are questionable, at best.

This is also another reason to ignore case numbers and track hospitalizations.

Testing has gone rampant.
A huge percentage have some vestage but never are effected.
Means nothing.
People who were in poor health are at risk to get sicker from everything, this included.

The whole point to the lockdown was to prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed, anyway.

But how much?

We know from seroprevalence tests done thus far, that the number of past infections exceeds the number of total positive spot tests by a wide margin.

So, could the positive test case numbers be inflated by as much as 50% in states like TX and GA?

Certainly seems plausible.

It’s hard to believe it’s not intentional. The CDC does nothing but this sort of stuff, so how is it possible they would be so incompetent as to mix totally different data sets from totally different types of tests?

Makes no sense. Team Apocalypse and the media will run in the other direction from this but at least the left-leaning Atlantic reported on it.
