"There is no question former President Trump bears moral responsibility. His supporters stormed the Capitol because of the unhinged falsehoods he shouted into the world’s largest megaphone," McConnell wrote. "His behavior during and after the chaos was also unconscionable, from attacking Vice President Mike Pence during the riot to praising the criminals after it ended."
[QUOTE=StoneByStone;3652224]America as a whole is a failed state now because of Trump.[/QUOTE
America had the best economic in history until the virus
I guess ( some folks ) will always be “ bottom dwellers “]
The separation of powers is a good way to prevent a country becoming a failed state, but it's not a fail-safe. And look where we are now. The economy is destroyed, most of the country is shutdown, and the murder hornets are on their way.
I know that last part isn't Trump's fault, but would anyone be surprised if it was?
The failures being revealed right now are the states that have given their governors too much power, like in Maine and Illinois. Also, New Jersey has gotten pretty authoritarian.
I wouldn't say any of that represents a failed state, but it does show that certain local governments have the wrong intentions. It also shows that certain constituencies need to be more vigilant.
Plenty of other states have loosened up their restrictions, and while the spread of the virus is a concern, it's less of a problem than what happens if you stay closed for too long.
It depends. NY and NJ do have exceptionally high population densities in their largest cities, but outside of those cities, it's not that dense. Instead of statewide shutdowns, NY and NJ could have instead opted for shutting down their biggest cities while leaving things mostly open in outlying areas. Also, plenty of the less dense areas could manage with social distancing rather than shutdowns.
It is true that the entire country is affected, but we can still look at certain states faring better than others, partially due to less stringent restrictions.
That being said, it is true that the higher population dense areas are being hit the hardest. That should make people question the wisdom of living so close together.
I'd imagine the next year or so will encourage more people to leave big cities. The trend was already ongoing before this, but now we have another reason to do so.
