Default Willie Brown: Amy Klobuchar has inside track to be Joe Biden’s running mate

    My favorite weekly political column/musings

Amy Klobuchar has inside track to be Joe Biden’s running mate

The hot word on the rumor wire is that Democratic presidential nominee-in-waiting Joe Biden is leaning toward picking Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar as his running mate.

The feeling is that Klobuchar’s commonsense style would help bring not just Minnesota but other swing states such as Ohio and Pennsylvania into the Biden fold.

She could also help the Democratic ticket among suburban women.

Biden has already committed to picking a woman as his vice presidential candidate. Klobuchar’s chances rose sharply after South Carolina Rep. Jim Clyburn, the highest-ranking African American in the House and the man who rescued Biden’s presidential bid from oblivion before his state’s primary, signaled that Biden should not be confined to picking a woman of color.

Word is that Biden will also name most of his Cabinet picks before the election. The idea is to run him as the leader of “Team Biden,” rather than as a solo act.

I guess they feel Joe may need a bit of propping up going into November.

Smart choice. She's the opposite of polarizing. She's practical and pretty moderate.

Kind of interesting this idea of "Team Biden". Is this some forward thinking we'll see from all future campaigns or is it trying to cover up concerns/weaknesses of Biden?

Yeah, because that's exactly how she's been in debate.

Pretty mysoginistic post, Stone. Sounds like you might have an issue w/ women in power.

Good idea, and it probably is covering up some of Biden's weaknesses campaigning, he is too sincere to be much of a campaigner in today's political environment, but there is nothing wrong with that, will put familiar faces out front

And I thought Harris was the leading candidate, would motivate minority voting

I was afraid Stacey Abrams was going to be forced on Biden. Hope THAT thought is over with.

I saw that debate. What an absurd characterization. Absolutely ridiculous & extreme (likely for partisan reasons).

If you want unhinged, go to Trump's twitter, or watch one of his COVID briefings.
