Because anything that makes it easier to vote means more ppl will vote. When more ppl vote, (D)s tend to win. Hence the Conservatards' concerted efforts at voter suppression.

UNC used to play a style of basketball where they never tried hard to score, held the ball like 20 minutes

Still, all of that said, absentee ballots are rarely counted unless the election is so close the number of absentee ballots would make a difference in the count.
