Outlook not so good for American families thanks to Trump.

    https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/02/healt...day/index.html
The US has reported more deaths linked to coronavirus than anywhere else in the world and updated models show 20,000 more Americans could die in just the next three weeks.

The ensemble forecast, published by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention projects more than 173,000 American deaths by August 22. At least 154,447 Americans have died since the beginning of the pandemic.
Across the country, local leaders and public health experts have urged residents not to let their guard down as social gatherings, especially among younger groups, are fueling the spread of the virus. While some states across the South seem to be nearing their peak, experts say others, including in the Midwest, are raising new concern.

The CDC says new deaths are likely to increase in Alabama, Kentucky, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, Tennessee and Washington. Some of these states previously reported progress in their coronavirus numbers but are now raising their alarm again.

The next line we cross will be 200,000 deaths. It will happen. Trump has never had control of the pandemic. There is very little Corona on the gol]f course so Trump has done a great job there.

    Wow.

The article says they estimate an average of a 1000 deaths per day for the next 30 days.

We are at: Total Deaths 157,898

    Add 30,000, and 30 days:

    157,898 + 30,000 = 187,898 dead by Sept 1st.

    Ouch.

    Hello Dutch Uncle,

I just finished reading that CNN article - it is very serious.

    Everyone should read that.

    Thanks for posting it.

We have got to continue all efforts to reach out to those who 'don't get it' about the coronavirus. Clearly, the message is really quite simple. The more people we get to take this thing seriously the better our nation will do at combatting the virus.

And the sad thing is the ones that 'don't get it' until it happens to them.

If only they would listen to reason before that happens.

"Across the country, public health experts are pleading for all Americans to not let their guard down as social gatherings -- especially among younger people -- are fueling the crisis."

It's hard to project out more than a few weeks because there are too many variables such as how well most Americans adhere to pandemic hygiene recommendations. In many ways the predictions are akin to Scrooge's asking the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come in Dickens' "A Christmas Carol"; "Are these the shadows of the things that Will be, or are they shadows of the things that May be only?'" While it's probably pretty certain the United States will suffer a thousand deaths a day over the next few weeks, what happens after that is entirely up to us. FWIW, I do not see much changing all the way through New Year's Day.

    http://www.gutenberg.org/files/24022...-h/24022-h.htm
The Spirit stood among the graves, and pointed down to One. He advanced towards it trembling. The Phantom was exactly as it had been, but he dreaded that he saw new meaning in its solemn shape.

'Before I draw nearer to that stone to which you point,' said Scrooge, 'answer me one question. Are these the shadows of the things that Will be, or are they shadows of the things that May be only?'

Still the Ghost pointed downward to the grave by which it stood.

'Men's courses will foreshadow certain ends, to which, if persevered in, they must lead,' said Scrooge. 'But if the courses be departed from, the ends will change. Say it is thus with what you show me!'

The Spirit was immovable as ever.

Scrooge crept towards it, trembling as he went; and, following the finger, read upon the stone of the neglected grave his own name, Ebenezer Scrooge.

'Am I that man who lay upon the bed?' he cried upon his knees.

The finger pointed from the grave to him, and back again.

'No, Spirit! Oh no, no!'[Pg 134]

    The finger still was there.

'Spirit!' he cried, tight clutching at its robe, 'hear me! I am not the man I was. I will not be the man I must have been but for this intercourse. Why show me this, if I am past all hope?'

For the first time the hand appeared to shake.

'Good Spirit,' he pursued, as down upon the ground he fell before it, 'your nature intercedes for me, and pities me. Assure me that I yet may change these shadows you have shown me by an altered life?'

    The kind hand trembled.

'I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future. The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons that they teach. Oh, tell me I may sponge away the writing on this stone!'
God bless America and those who defend our Constitution.

True. OTOH, IMO, what's more likely to happen is that the younger people will catch it and pass it to all of their friends and family. Any friends or family who are elderly or have compromising health issues will be the ones hit the hardest.

We can make a projection of when that would occur based on an assumption of 1000 deaths per day.

    200,000 - 157,898 = 42,102

@ 1000 deaths per day that would be a little over 42 days to reach 200,000 deaths.

    That would be September 13th.

Not the best optics to have at 6 weeks before the election.

The Sunday lull lowered the daily death count below 500 yesterday, thankfully.

Deaths yesterday were held to under 600.

At this point that's probably a good thing.

Here is a very good thing:

    Active Cases dropped yesterday!

    Are we finally peaking???
