I also think it might be a misconception if Nazis won that everyone would speak German.

Nazis being highly prejudiced & supremacist probably didn't want others they thought were racial trash to start speaking German.

Nazi generals & troops were more skilled inflicting a lot more deaths.

But, Soviets had everything else on their side.

It's likely Nazis would have run out of men before Soviets had.

The best Polish blooded scientists are at least as good as France's.

Even though Poland's circumstances were much worse.

Well that sure makes sense. JEFFERSON and FRANKLIN were both feted among the French. Franklin secured the MONEY as I remember. Jefferson followed as ambassador (or whatever the title was) concurrent with the Constitution being written here. Lot's of 'cross pollination' at a most interesting time! I'm sure LETTERS between Madison and Jefferson were sailing across the water the WHOLE time.

I love this quote by JFK in the White House. I think it was in a toast. (He was a witty guy on his own but I wonder if he wrote it himself). It was brilliant.

"I think this is the most extraordinary collection of talent, of human knowledge, that has ever been gathered at the White House - with the possible exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone."

Apparently CHOOSING where to live is less important than being born there according to the clown with a keyboard above. (Well maybe she came as a child so it was foisted upon her).

German would have been the prestige language and the lingua franca of Europe, and I guess the world. English is currently the language that people use most to communicate between even countries that do not speak English. Well, it would have been German.

If you are a Chinese pilot who wants to speak with Chinese air traffic control, you are required to use English. China wants to be an international country, so believes it must use English. In the new EU military forces, all commands are given in English, even though none of the countries represented in the forces are English speaking. Commissioned officers have college degrees, and people with college degrees speak English. In many countries, scientific PHD dissertation are written and even defended in English. English is the international language of science.

Well in German occupied France, or Poland, if you wanted to communicate with the German authorities, it was probably better to use German. After the war, all companies would still have to communicate to the Germans in German. It would have been the language of anyone who is educated. Scientific papers were already being written in German, even in the USA, but they would have even more been.

Or that is my theory. Who knows.
