There will have a humanitarian crisis on their hands with thousands of businesses gone to the wall, houses repossessed and mass unemployment. You're burning the house down because a wasp came in. The solution can't be worse than the problem it's ridiculous. If you crash the economy there's no way back for at least a decade. Healthy people in the 20-50 bracket need to be back at work. Shops and cafes should reopen ASAP before there's nothing left of the economy. You think you can suspend the economy of one of the worlds richest countries and there's aren't grave consequences?

What a dumbass analogy. If you had a village and THOUSANDS of wasps entered your houses, then you would LEAVE YOUR HOUSES until the wasps could be cleared. That would be a much more appropriate analogy. PEOPLE 15 - 50 CAN BE CARRIERS and pass it along.

We haven't burned the house down, we've simply left the house until we can get the disease under control and it is safe to reenter.

Your post said the death total "soared". The death toll is falling extremely short of what the models predicted. But by all means, keep stoking the hysteria.

Speaking of pandemics, didn't they create the iron lung for polio patients?? Rings a bell but I'm not sure

Do the idiots HERE KNOW THAT THE ENTIRE US MEDICAL SYSTEM WAS 'BIRTHED' IN FRANCE? From the late 1700's WELL INTO the 1900's, medical students went to FRANCE to get trained. The best trained are the ones who could afford to TRAIN in FRANCE.

I'll repeat, the dearth of general knowledge from the posters on this board is STAGGERING!! And absolutely NO shame about it.

PS Didn't the FRENCH fly FIRST? And didn't they develop AIR BALLOONS and dirigibles, you know blimps (even sounds French).

Funny that you responded to my post "what have they done lately" with a bunch of stuff mostly from over 100 years ago.

It was as if a box of turds had dropped from the ceiling and landed in the middle of the fashionably set table. Dead silence. Finally, one woman at the end of the table, looked over and with complete sincerity, said 'you know had I forgotten about that'.

(My buddy sitting next me, who was a 'national merit scholar, looked confused--I never knew if he got it).
Sounds like your friends are just as uninformed as you are. Birds of a feather...

BTW, the French "financed our independence" to harm their enemies, the British, far more than out of friendship for us. Just thought you should know that.

Not sure how which event came first is relevant, fool. If the US of A hadn't intervened, all those Frenchies would be speaking German right now.

Oh yeah. To harm their enemies, far more than to help us. Glad we can agree on that.
