Default HELP!! Trump,"We don't have a massive recession or worse because We turned it off"???

I have no idea what the hell he is talking about. I don't even know what the hell he is trying to say. WTF? It's not artificial if you don't have a paycheck. Isn't that the freaking point? A recession is when a whole bunch of people don't have a paycheck. That would be 6.2 million as of WED, right?

Remember the old line? It's a recession when your neighbor loses his job. It's a depression when you lose yours.
(Or something very akin to that).

It’s not like we have a massive recession or worse,’ says Trump after millions lose their jobs

“It’s artificial because we turned it off,” Trump said of the economic crisis, a distinction that makes no difference to the millions who have lost their jobs and their health insurance.

During a Coronavirus Task Force briefing late Thursday following news that 10 million Americans filed jobless claims over just a two-week period last month, President Donald Trump downplayed the intensifying economic downturn as “an artificial closing” and insisted that businesses like restaurants will be “bigger and better” than before once the COVID-19 crisis subsides.

“It’s not like we have a massive recession or worse. It’s artificial because we turned it off,” Trump said, drawing a distinction that makes no difference to those who have lost their jobs—as well as employer-provided health insurance—or seen their hours drastically cut due to the crisis.

“Oh thank God, for a second I thought I was actually unemployed and not just artificially unemployed,” one Twitter user

Raw Sewage again..why do you live on this garbage? allow me to enlighten:
“It’s artificial because we turned it off,”
meaning the economy otherwise is in good shape -the fundamentals are good.
I don't necessarily agree we can just be expected to "turn it back on" - but that's the meaning

Roughly HALF the time, WHEN HE ACTUALLY HAS A POINT TO MAKE (which is only about 30% of the time), I can get the gist. But he's saying this is artificial. It doesn't matter if it is COVID, a mortgage crisis or A 9/11, when people lose their fucking jobs en masse, IT'S NOT ARTIFICIAL.

Lets start with TRUMP understanding WHAT a recession is! Oh yeah, and that there is one. And it's NOT artificial.

Listen dumbasses. If you are going 65 miles per hour and hit a truck or a tree, you're coming to a total fucking stop. And the 'vehicle' is likely going to be BROKEN and ain't going 65 miles an hour anytime soon! Nothing artificial about it.

This didn't have to be as bad as it is.

Better leadership could have handled this much better.

    We did it all wrong.

And believe it or not, this is a non partisan post. Read on.

Obviously if people are ordered to close businesses and stay home, lots of jobs will be lost. There's no way around that, right?

    Or is there...

So maybe there could have been a different way. The good leadership way would plan for the impact of this extraordinary order, BEFORE the order is given.

What if there had been a plan in place to save nearly all of the jobs? Instead of giving the stay-at-home order first, and then dealing with the impact of millions of unemployed people all trying to get unemployment benefits at once (System Crashed!), what if Congress had rushed through a special Bill to pay all the businesses to keep the workers? Pay them to work, or simply stay, at home.

That way, the jobs are saved. AND (big and,) all those workers who get healthcare through their employment ... still have it.

Now, true, this would have taken a really good leader, with a good team, to figure this out and make it happen.

But that's the kind of amazing things good leaders can do.

    That would have been awesome.

OK, so we didn't get that.

    How about this?

We try to undo what happened with a creative new Bill.

It pays employers to re-hire the people that got fired.

and it reinstates their employer health coverage.

And it pays them to keep that all going until we can go back to work.

Whatever that costs, $10, $20 trillion, I don't know. It would be the cheapest way out of this.

I guarantee you, the messy way? It's gonna cost more and hurt more for a longer period of time.

Just sayin.' There is no flipping a light switch and turning the economy back on.... Once it is dismantled it takes a long time (very) to put it back together again.

But maybe we can still press rewind real quick and put the economy on planned pause instead of 'you're fired.'

    Something to think about...

    ^ over your head huh?
Trump wasn't saying the SUFFERING is artificial, he was saying the recession is an artificial construct
It's different from ordinary recessions that happen due to market slowdowns.
