    Default Just plain covid

    https://phys.org/news/2020-03-scient...lt-global.html

There are other things to talk about, people!

"The global average temperature is already 1°C above the pre-industrial levels and today's emissions and energy consumption trends are not on track to meet the targets of the Paris Agreement.

But the means exist to reach those targets.

The JRC's latest Global Energy and Climate Outlook (GECO), produced jointly with the Chinese National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation (NCSC), shows that it is technically possible to reach the 2°C target of the Paris agreement—at relatively low cost—by simultaneously transforming four elements of the energy system.

Electrification can supercharge the energy transition

Electricity is increasingly produced from renewable energy sources. Therefore, electrification—replacing technologies that run on fossil fuels with alternatives that run on electricity—plays a key role in the energy transition."

So since you were painfully, awkwardly, shamelessly wrong about ignoring all the scientists who were warning you about COVID, isn't it possible you are also painfully, awkwardly, shamelessly wrong about ignoring all the scientists warning you about Climate Change?

After all, your instincts are utter trash and your judgment sucks, as we saw in the last two months of you lying and spreading misinformation, while making bad predictions of the severity.

Come to think of it, you haven't been right about anything you've ever said here.

Where's that 3% growth you promised?

    What is global warming?

Global warming refers to the steady temperature rise on our planet. This is a photo of Earth taken by the EPIC imager on the DSCOVR satellite on March 29, 2017.

The globe is heating up. Both land and oceans are warmer now than they were when record keeping began, in 1880, and temperatures are still ticking upward. This rise in heat is global warming, in a nutshell.

Here are the bare numbers, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA): Between 1880 and 1980, the global annual temperature increased at a rate of 0.13 degrees Fahrenheit (0.07 degrees Celsius) per decade, on average. Since 1981, the rate of increase has sped up, to 0.32 degrees F (0.18 degrees C) per decade. This has led to an overall 3.6 degrees F (2 degrees C) increase in global average temperature today compared to the preindustrial era. In 2019, the average global temperature over land and ocean was 1.75 degrees F (0.95 degrees C) above the 20th-century average. That made 2019 the second hottest year on record, trailing only 2016.

This rise in heat is caused by humans. The burning of fossil fuels has released greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, which trap warmth from the sun and drive up surface and air temperatures.

Listen to the scientists about it so you don't end up playing a part in making the problem worse, like you personally did with COVID.

I’m very concerned because our meteorologist has stated this is going to be an active hurricane season. We’ve already seen destructive tornadoes. It’s not something I look forward to especially with the virus already doing a number on our economy.

I think there are going to be at least 2 Maria-level catastrophes from Hurricanes this fall, just as we might be turning the corner on COVID.

Of course, just like Maria, Trump's negligence will result in thousands of more dead Americans.

Trump and his supporters have killed more Americans in the last month than al Qaeda has killed in the entire Afghan War.

In fact, just in the last four weeks, Trump and the Conservatives have killed more than twice the number killed in 19 years of war in Afghanistan.

You asked what the big deal was, I told you to listen to the scientists, like you didn't do with COVID, which you also wondered what the big deal was about 3-4 weeks ago while ignoring the scientists.

So there's a definite pattern there.

Since you were SO WRONG about coronavirus, isn't it also possible those shitty instincts steered you wrong on Climate Change?
