I think things should be assessed as time goes on.

After the end of this month we’ll have better data. What this may come down to is making a decision in terms of ‘what death count will you accept in order to get ease the restrictions?’.

One way to keep any one person from being responsible for the decision is to make it a national referendum.

Some people think objecting to the lockdown is simply about the economy and money. Well, it is that. But this lockdown business is going to come with some pretty ugly social costs [and it’s own death toll] if it goes on for a significant amount of time. Alcohol consumption is way, way up. Who knows about the drug use. Suicides.

And an actual Depression is no joking matter. There’s no rule that says ‘oh, you’ll pull out of it in time’. That isn’t guaranteed. It’s not inconceivable the government would collapse on account of it.

I’m not saying do this or do that except to say this virus will run it’s course—one way or another and it may come down to what the country is willing to risk in order to keep the death toll down.
